Hi!

Can somebody tell me on what is based the order of theTOP 5 cities?
As I can see the most important factor is culture, but is there any other, that counts in?

Thanks for the answers in advance.

AFAIK = As Far As I Know

FYI AFAIK = IHRTAISIGTSOOMA

I thought size, wonders and happiness also counted?

Culture only matters, when the other civs had bigger cities with more wonders they were still below my city that had built a temple very early on.

IHRTAISIGTSOOMA = GRITLTT

I'm not really sure how the Top 5 cities are calculated. I would be pretty willing to bet it involves culture and population.

I know that a city with 3 population, early on, will be on the top 5 list. When it builds a settler and drops to pop 1, it will drop down or off the list. So it's more than just culture and wonders. I'd bet it's all three.

This is off topic, but what determines literacy rates and military service?

Thanks for the answers.

I personally think that culture is the most important factor. In my latest game i conquered a city with big culture+pop, and it disappeared from the top5, altough its population haven't decreased much.

Culture it is .

Don't you wonder why the Top 5 cities are always the capitals or one of the oldest cities.

The older the Improvements are , the more culture it's worth.
Wonders helps, as it generate extra culture.

That's why your new cities with 20 + points of population and 4-5 modern/Industrial Age wonders never Rank higher than a 12 point city with a single ancient Wonder

Can't you tell? It's obviously "I'm holding rotten tomatoes and, interestingly, soon I'll get to start other obnoxious multiplayer adventures."

Geez, some people just don't know their acronyms...

I'm not entirely sure what determines the length of your country's military service, but I believe literacy rates are improved by building libraries, universities i.e. educational improvements. The more you have, the higher your literacy rating.
I'd also imagine gaining the Education tech would raise it a little, but I'm not sure

If wonders don't count at all, then I'd be surprised. Sealman, Yzman, and GuangRong, are you sure that wonders don't matter except for the fact that they produce culture? I remember in Civ 2 the top 5 cities primarily, and usually only, depended on wonders. The only reason other things would count is if there was a tie between the # of wonders in two or more cities. And I assumed it was like that in Civ 3, or at least partially like that in that wonders somehow counted, because I have never seen a city on the Top 5 Cities Chart below a city with less wonders. (Although I haven't seen many other things in this game as well. ;) )
