What are the best pantheons, beliefs and reformations for tradition? Id assume you want to cover your weaknesses, which are mostly production and gold related? And it also depends on how much faith you will be able to generate in the game and if you can spread or not. So far ive had a lot of success with holy law, cooperation/diligence and the GPI reformation.

And what about buildings, when should you go for those and which ones are the best? Any nice synergies with other beliefs or certain civs?

The question I make myself is: do I have any chances at spreading my religion? This depends on how many religious neighbours I have, ocean rifts and the like. If I can spread confidently, then production or gold per follower is fine, and maybe picking a founder belief that helps with or benefits from spreading. If I can't, then I try to make my religion resilient, by taking a couple of religious buildings for extra pressure.
If you know you can confidently make a GP strategy, or that you can confidently grow your cities, then you can try mastery or cooperation. Cathedrals work well too, they give extra gold to things that you may already be working, in case you need gold for your army. And mandirs, giving +10% food, so you can work on fewer food tiles, and more specialists.

I've never done the Pagoda style, letting other religions take roots in your empire, but it must be powerful when next to a couple of religious contenders.

By playing tradition, founding is relatively easy, so I don't ever consider letting other religions convert my empire to share a diplomatic bonus.

My belief pick usually dont depend on my policy. Mostly terrain dependent for pantheon.fFor founder or follower, hugely depend on what is your long term goal. Do you want to spread or not. With city number scaling for bonus yield belief(like holy law,way transcendence, etc), it is not automatic pick for tall empire.

Production per follower is a great one to me. While I like cooperation it tends to cap out compared to a wide player.

What about aesthetiscm, do you ever want to pick that? Seems counterintuitive since you get so much food from tradition alone. Would you pick mandirs over aesthetiscm in tersm of the provided food boost?

I think Goddess of Beuty has to be mentioned somewhere here. It's worth a Shrine plus another for every 2 Wonder, but the protagonist is the +3 GA +3 GE point. The early Engineer is precious for Tradition capital and often turns the tide of the wonder race, the Artist is a long term investment. The fact that producing these GP costs less food and pop fits so well with the plans of the Tradition capital.

As far as founder beliefs go, probably the best would be the +% to yields from golden age (i cant remember the name off hand). If you miss that, Apostolic Tradition (Food, GA points in Holy city for spreading religion) coupled with faith generation and/or cheaper missionaries can create a ludicrously large capital in the mid game.

My favorite follower for tradition is still Mastery, especially if Im running a strat for GP production. This and Pagodas can fuel the Super Golden ages mentioned above.
