Here are the guidelines for the game. I stole these from others but they did a better job of writing things down than I could.

Also, each turn (except the first player) will be around ten turns +/- a few. If you don't have time to complete them all then its OK to stop early and pass it on. Sometimes the game just has some natural break points beyond which you might commit the next player to a massive undertaking and you want to leave the choice up to them as they will shoulder the burden. Sometimes a war is just about over and you don't want to leave a the next player with a couple of boring "clean-up" turns or you have worked to get something done that you feel is important and you don't want it lost. Take a couple extra to do so. Try not to "hog" all the fun, but don't short change yourself either.

Succession Game Etiquette Guide
Please do:
Let the team know if you're going to be unable to play for an extended period - holiday, illness, exams etc.
Post a "Got it" notice or ask for a skip within 24 hours of the save becoming available (I reserve the right to skip a player who hasn't responded after the 24 hour grace period is over).
Play and post within 48 hours of posting a "Got it". Additional time may be requested and granted for expected delays.
Write up a log of the events occurring during your turn and post it along with your save.
Provide notes for the next player as to the current situation and any immediate plans for the future - are those Caravels heading NE or SW? is that Swordsman fortified to heal or act as a lookout? Our forces are mustering for an attack on...
Feel free to pause and ask for advice, or simply discuss, if a situation arisies in the game and you're unsure of the best course of action.

Please do not:
Automate Workers.
Use City Governors unless the team has discussed and agreed their use.
Leave units on goto orders that will extend beyond your turn. (Auto-moving is bad form in SGs)
Make deals on your last turn. However, you should notify the next player if trading opportunities exist.
Make wholesale changes to build orders on the inherited turn without consulting the team. One or two is okay, and pre-builds may naturally get changed.

Will never miss another game in TR series :)
ALthough you all know i prefer a quick and bloody domination game i would like to volunteer myself on this one no matter what...

I'm having lots of blood spilled in current COTM so i might need to have escape root to Alpha Centaury to avoid being prosecuted as a war criminal. :crazyeye:

I was hoping that you'd say that

Sure, I'll join. I haven't completed a Space Ship in a while. I want to see that ending movie again, too. ;)

Hmm, no dialog, pangea, and 60%? I sense a lot of wars, and most likely a dogpile or two. What difficulty should we play at? Emperor? I'm not sure how difficult this variant will be. All self-research, basically, until spies.

EDIT: I just thought of something. Does the no dialog also mean we can't ask for peace, but we have to wait for them to ask for peace?

well there's that pointy stick that dman loves to sharpen & yes I sense a dogpile as well. As far as the difficulty, I have no idea. Emperor sounds like it would be about right, but I'm open to up or down one if the team thinks that it's appropriate.

Yep.

tiny, 60%, pangea, middle aged, middle humid, sounds nice.
SGL? off?

do we want a scientific civ? a military one? id like greece, but dont really mind.
Actually, I was thinking of Greece, too. :crazyeye: Mostly because I've never played as the Greeks, but also because the UU would help us if we did get under a dogpile too early. What are they, Commercial and...Scientific?

SW, out of the 10 "current" SG's in your sig, 2, i know, are complete.

I'd rather Germany due to the SCI & MIL traits. COM trait doesn't do that much for us with this variant. MIL for pointy-stick research & SCI for free techs & cheap libs

Off to update 1st post with current members & settings

Count me in. Can't resist a good space race (or a TR series game, for that matter).

60% land is probably a good idea. Beyond that, don't really have an opinion on the settings.

Scientific sounds good. Also, since we're playing a tiny map, which will probably run out of space fast, and may end up at the bottom of an early dogpile, I'd suggest a civ that either (a) expands well or (b) has a good early UU. Sumerians or Greeks would seem to fit the bill.

Is it allowed to open up the diplomacy screen (or use CivAssist) just to see what the AI has? Or does that go against the "silent" idea?

Germany was another consideration of mine. I didn't think of the traits, but they would be helpful. Panzers would also help fend off dogpiles in the Modern Age until we got MAs. With Panzers, we wouldn't need to go for MAs as soon, and we could concentrate on SS techs.

I have been thinking about this and my feeling is that CivAssist & diplomacy screen are OK. I couldn't imagine playing a game without CivAssist or MapStat (I don't know how the MTDG is going to go). But if people want to go all-silent then OK by me.

It seems to me that by the time we get into the late IA, we should be either in control of the situation or dead. I'm much more worried about what will happen when one of our neighbors demands 17 gold in 1500 BC. Hence my suggestion of a good early UU to help weather the storm.

I'm OK with the idea, too (I can't imagine playing without CivAssist either). I just wanted to bring it up now while we're still working out the rules.

OK so here's the civ analysis so far:

Greece - SCI & COM - great early UU
Sumeria- SCI & AGR - good early UU & expand early
Germany- SCI & MIL - more leaders but late UU **does start off with archers

My vote is Sumeria, Germany, then Greece in that order.

My vote is Sumeria, Greece, Germany.

I disagree about commercial being useless, btw. I've never played a tiny map, but my understanding is that corruption gets bad pretty fast. And I've never been that impressed with militaristic as a trait (though that could just be my playing style).

Yeah I forgot about that. OCN is much, much less than what we're used to playing so corruption is probably horrid after the 3rd city.

I think that the MIL is nice due cheap barracks. The leaders never come my way anyway so I guess that reason doesn't matter for me. ;)

Ok. Tonight, if I get the time (sister-in-law's wedding to go to) I'll roll some starts on the settings in the first post with the Sumerians

If you have any objections or changes, let me know by ~4 EDT.

I'll post the starts tonight or tomorrow & we'll get this ball rolling.

I rolled six starts @ Emporer level. I'm gld I decided to roll 6 because that looks the best of the bunch. Next is between 2 & 3. At least its not as bad as TR04!!
