I'm playing Civ III Conquests v. 1.22. I recently acquired my first city on a foreign continent. I conquered that city because it had access to a luxury resource that the rest of my empire didn't have. I quickly connected the luxury resource and the new city by a road, built a harbor in the new city, and soon my whole empire was enjoying the new luxury. All was good.
Then the Russians declared war on me, and my empire's access to the new luxury resource immediately disappeared. I think I figured out the reason why: the only path from the new city to the rest of my empire is a water route that goes through waters that are within the borders of the Russian empire.
What can I do about this? (Other than making peace with the Russians or creating a new trade route by conquering/building other cities)
What seems kind of silly to me is that the Russians have virtually no sea power and I have an awesome fleet. I tried lining up my warships in an unbroken line from my port city all the way through the Russian waters, hoping that would re-open my trade route, but it didn't work.
