i have only 1 horse resource and i traded it to the strongest civ on the map and he gave me lots for it. now, should i expect that that civ will start building knights during that 20 turns that he has it?

He is at peace with everyone on the map. he has become quite a powerful civ so i was thinking that no one will try to make war with him in the near future. Do AI civs build military units during peacetime and how many is that?

YEH the AI is always building its militry well the militristic ones do in my experience they use this so that they can bully you and the fight beteen themselves and there isnt a set limit to the amount they make each turn

they build military less than they do in war, but they still do build. Be very careful when trading resources, it might come back to haunt you. remember, they only need 1 turn to upgrade all their horsemen.

i normally only trade resources if they offer huge amounts og gold per turn (100) or if i have a big enough tech lead to be able to defend against any units they throw at me

i NEVER trade uranium

when the i trade something with the AI and the AI says it will give me gold per turn, the next turns after that it never does. anyone know why????????

ypu can try the following: play an archipelago game on a huge map with little land. this gives you a chance to be left alone for a long time. now set all citites on governor for production - and watch how much military they pump out even on the sometimes setting in peace. make sure you research fast enough that they don't default to units though.

You will be shocked!

are you sure you clicked on "we accept your deal " or summin like that and not just press enter
it might be that you just havnt noticed if you press on F1 and look at the income part of your cash flow you should see a title which says from other civs this will show the amount you get each turn from all the civs you know and have deals with

the gold flow is automatic.

oh i guess i made the wrong impression.

on that game:
that civ i'm referring to is Persia - nonmilitaristic.
Strongest civ is America - not persia.
Persia is only good at having tech lead and a few wonders.
(I weighed the chances you see.)
too far for America to attack Persia - archipelago.
Persia refuses any Alliances against any other civ.

so my conclusion was - give him horses and he won't build as much cavalry in 20 turns because he is currently peaceful and in no bloodthirsty mood. am i right?
(Although that musketeer he was building on his capital puzzles me.)

no sometimes the AI gets in a bad mood for no reason especially if they are the most powerful civ

He will build less military in peacetime, but it's still a risk. He won't war with you (generally) while he has the resource trade happening, but it doesn't mean he won't later.

but normally he builds more defensive units than attacking units e.g. riflemen, infantry, mech infantry

and you end up with a StackofDoom in your territory. if you know how to deal with it - fine! If not, well, you're in deep sh*t!

ok ok i made a mistake. closest civ to them declared war and yes I'm in deep sh*t now. END!
