Transfer your Game with Steam

Hello I have been playing Civ 4 for a number of years now but I moved from Australia to the UK in April and left my computer at home. I purchased a new laptop yesterday and after logging into my steam account I noticed that I could download a few of the games that I had purchased in Australia that required me to log into steam onto this computer.
I checked the store and it does have Civ 4 so I was wondering if I got someone to access my laptop back in Australia is there a way to back up my game onto steam so I can download it in the UK? Just I have done with my (recent) Total War games and Civ 5.
I understand Civ 4 is a bit different as it is an older game and doesn't actually require steam but if anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated.

Put your CD version of civ 4 into steam? I very much doubt it can be done, because then you would have two games of civ since there is no way to block the CD version.

Steam versions are loaded on the computer differently than disc versions. In order to access CIV via Steam, you will have to purchase the Steam version of CIV.

Have your friend send you your original CD and just install the game again.
