I'm not looking forward to it in the slightest, particularly given Michael Bay's involvement. I'm pretty certain that means we'll get a pretty dull adaptation that no doubt looks good, but filled with explosions and is a rather forgettable movie experience.

I agree with this quote from another site:

Bit worried about the Transformers trailer I just saw. It's raining, it's dark, there's some rumbling noises, there's a cute little girl...and then there's a massive robot - its all very Speilburgesque Jurassic Park-a-like.

If its that same formula but with robots instead of dinosaurs and loads of terrible human characters running around in the dark/rain/thunder in a juxtaposition of ''their own personal challenges and the challenges they face against the robots'' the movie is doomed to be just more Hollywood cack

I genuinely hope not.

Of course, she goes onto say that "2 hours of giant fighting robots, explosions and robo-speak would be perfect!" Which, while enjoyable, would probably make for a pretty monotonous film as well

I actually watched the cartoon and enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to the movie. I don't care if it follows any of the storylines from the different cartoons (I can think of 2 off hand) I just hope it's entertaining :D

I'll go see it. My only two concerns A:) Decepticons. Two named ones and a bunch of no bodies, they;re probably all cannon fodder. My second concern is B:) The lack of energy weapons(or weapons at all other then OPs Energy Axe) All I see is wrestling moves, not even a gun in a promotional shot(cept for one of OP)

And as for this "a boy and his car" talk, I think they just didn't want to show off the Transformers ya know save it for the movies.

Exactly. There's no way this movie will not be stupid.

/meh. I happen to have enjoyed some of his movies...specifically, The Rock, and Armageddon.

Anyway, I just noticed on the IDMB Michael Bay page that they are already planning "Transformers 2" to be released in 2009!

Er, the million-dollar-an-episode low-budget Battlestar Galactica? :dubious:

No, the 'original' Battlestar Galatica. Dont tell me you didnt know the sci-fi channel creation was a retelling of an old campy/cheesy tv series? The original series only lasted a single season back in 1978-79.

Yes, that's the one: a million dollars an episode - it was the most expensive series ever at the time IIRC.

As the series progressed, the ratings began to decline, even though the show still consistently won its coveted Sunday evening timeslot. Although each episode had a budget of about $1 million, the show reused so many special effects shots due to budgetary constraints that many critics derided it as "overplayed into tedium."

In mid-April 1979, ABC executives cancelled the still strongly-rated show. Some sources indicate that the million-dollar-per-episode cost led to the show's demise.[citation needed] Others believe that it was a failed attempt by ABC to position its hit comedy Mork & Mindy into a more lucrative timeslot.[3] (The ratings for Mork plummeted far below what they had been for Battlestar Galactica.) The cancellation led to viewer outrage, protests outside ABC studios,
Source. I'm amazed you don't remember /lol/sarcastic smiley.

No, it had the 'most expensive pilot' ever at the time. Your source doesnt exactly say it was the most epensive series of its time. But it does say that it was too expensive to maintain.

But what did they spend the money on? If you watch the 1978 series you will see exactly how cheap it looks and how campy everything is. Even your own source mentions how tedious the effects were since the budget made them use the same effect over and over.

Big sets & famous actors I assume.

Anyway i'll consider 'low-budget' to be pwned despite your attempts to nit-pick.

Well, I suppose when you got to scramble for any tidbit a small pwned is due to you.

But you tell me. Did you ever actually see the original series? Even as a kid I remember it was just plain awful. And I loved Star Trek and Star Wars as a kid; but I couldnt stand Battlestar Galactica.

This movie doesn't interest me at all, too much of the same old thing, nothing that original. There was a load of hype for superman and that didn't turn out good at all. Man on the tv all the commercials were superman this and that at least in singapore.

Hey, it was your idea to argue and start using smug smileys, don't get sore cos ya' lost :p
But you tell me. Did you ever actually see the original series?
Yeah, I loved it. Just as good as STTOS.

As a fan of the cartoon series as a kid, I can't wait for this movie, I think it's gonna be awesome!! Hopefully the huge marketing won't create the wrong expectations.

Looking forward to it. I don't care about substance in these kind of movies, I'm looking to be visually entertained.

I don't care they made Bumblebee into a Mustang. I wants the pretty pictures :goodjob:

Michael Bay is an arsemunch.

Seriously, the guy just CAN'T make a good movie to save a skin graft off his face. Epileptic camera work, stupid white-washed cinematography, crappy melodramatic plot lines, and those masturbatory explosions in every fracking scene.

Dude obviously didn't watch any good movies before he made some of his own.

They changed the story, but I want to watch it all the same :)
