Playing on King once more, no victory conditions, large map (-2 Civs Fewer), and on Terra.

Will be playing as the Ottomans this time around. Let's get this party started.

Domestic Affairs

Spoiler :

Suleiman tirelessly led our people through the harsh untamed wild until finally coming upon calm plains beside the ocean on which he founded our first settlement and later capital of our empire: Istanbul.

While exploring the ruins of peoples past, Suleiman and his warriors stumbled onto riches beyond belief alongside culturally, religiously, and technologically significant artifacts.

As time passed, our people began to share a common set of beliefs. Suleiman did all that he could to ensure these beliefs were in line with what was good for the health of our society. This period is when a high respect for parenthood and family began to take hold.

Knowing that no civilized people would live under the rule of a tyrant, Suleiman began the process of granting liberties to the Ottomans of the time.

Ottoman workers began developing the land around Istanbul around this time in order to shape it to further fit their needs and to grant us future prosperity.

Suleiman's explorers found a natural wonder we've come to call Uluru. Far beyond our borders at the time but still significant as other groups were nearby.

Our finest research unlocked the secrets of both animal husbandry and trapping during this time. This resulted in our having many options when it came to food sources for our budding city.

Foreign Affairs

Spoiler :

An Ottoman warrior group sent out to explore the lands came upon the city of Milan. They were a peaceful people intent on seeking out prosperity, especially in the arts.

We soon came into contact with the city of Hanoi nearby Milan. These were a strong, brave people who lived by a strict warrior code. Their military strength was minor, but they were loyal to their allies and would be willing to provide whatever support they could.

Istanbul was not safe. Suleiman soon faced Barbarians at the gates. Our people were strong and we did not yield. We defeated the barbarians with our unending might.

Suleiman encountered another great civilization through his exploring: Byzantium, led by Theodora.

Suleiman found the Iroqois as well; they were led by Hiawatha.

Ottoman warriors found the Arabians as well. Led by Harun al-Rashid.

Hiawatha was not pleased with his Arabian neighbor and wished for our help in striking them. Knowing it was foolhardy to even consider waging war against such a faraway people, Suleiman politely declined.

I got real lazy near the end of that other game, partly because I saw the writing on the wall.

Concerning the city states, I say befriend Milan and, if it's in a strategic location, annex Hanoi.

I might see about Hanoi. Always nice befriending a milstate though.

I think because of some lakes I'll be able to make a two-city-canal through the continent near Istanbul too. Not sure how worth it that would be yet though.

Domestic Affairs

Suleiman began a complete restructure of the political system at this time. He worked to create the republic we've had last through to today.

Ottoman researchers put to the task of understanding what resources the ground had to offer soon unearthed the secrets of mining (Pun intended).

Ottoman scientists also began using a written language at this time to further guarantee the preservation of our history and the prosperity of our people.

Suleiman strove to establish a collective rule in the Ottoman civilization and used this to prepare Ottoman pioneers to push forth and expand our borders.

Ottoman scientists created a calendar to help plan for the future of the empire and make easier the jobs of farmers and the like.

Foreign Affairs

Ottoman explorers made first contact with the Aztec people. This lead to the first meeting between their leader Montezuma and Suleiman.

Ottoman explorers found the city of Zurich. There were a people intent on garnering as much wealth as they could.

During this period we got a look at the industrial base of each people.

Suleiman signed an open declaration of friendship with Theodora of the Byzantines knowing that they posed no threat to Ottoman sovereignty for the time.

Suleiman signed a similar declaration with Hiawatha of the Iroquois.

Theodora was delighted with the development of increased Iroquois-Ottoman relations.

Harun al-Rashid of the Arabians soon joined Suleiman's list of friends. Hiawatha took note and praised continued peaceful relations.

Suleiman met Gandhi of the Indians after Indian explorers encountered Ottoman ones.

Suleiman pledged Ottoman protection to the cities of Hanoi and Milan in an effort to win favor with their citizens.

Suleiman also signed a declaration of friendship with Gandhi.

Gandhi and Suleiman agreed to establish embassies in each others' cities in an effort to further increase relations.

Suleiman came to an agreement with Hiawatha in regards to establishing embassies as well.

Ottoman explorers found the city of Zanzibar. These people were also interested in accruing wealth rather than anything else.

An encounter between Spanish and Ottoman explorers led to the first meeting between Isabella and Suleiman.

Military Affairs

Spoiler :

Continuing his efforts to earn favor with nearby cities, Suleiman attacked barbarian encampments in the region and pledged some Ottoman funds to Milan.

After defeating barbarians in an encampment in the area around Istanbul, Suleiman's warriors came across a large coral reef offering splendor beyond compare.

Suleiman's warriors also looted from the encampment.

Showing his support for Milan lead the Milanese leadership to agree to an alliance with us. This gave Suleiman and the people of Istanbul access to cultural artifacts held in Milan.

Our finest researchers began exploring what the sea might have to offer to us around this time.

Wanting to create an educated class in Istanbul greater than that seen in any other city, Suleiman built. The Great Library soon joined the streets of the city.

With the influx of thinking and education, many great philosophers and thoughts began to emerge in Istanbul.

Suleiman enacted policies creating a class of citizens in our cities. This led to increased productivity in the development of our land.

Ottoman researchers discovered advanced optics for use aboard ships, something we had not yet fully taken advantage.

The secrets of archery were also discovered.

The perfection of the wheel is a historic milestone in our history.

Suleiman further reinforced the Ottoman Republic.

The construction of the Oracle completed.

Suleiman made sure to have a system of meritocracy govern employment.

Temple of Artemis constructed in Istanbul (Used a Great Engineer from liberty for this one, wanted it badly)

Early Ottoman scholars were famed for their skills in mathematics.

Suleiman a currency for our civilization. This helped us to improve our economy greatly.

Erection of Stonehenge in Istanbul.

The finest masons in the land could be found walking the streets of the Ottoman Republic.

Foreign Affairs

With the different peoples of the world continuing to increase relations and communications, comparisons were made between the civilizations. An early one compared their military strengths. Suleiman only fielded a small force of explorers at this time.

Ottoman explorers made first contact with the Egyptian Kingdom with the discovery of Thebes.

Suleiman and Ramesses agreed to establish embassies in each others' capitals.

Suleiman and Isabella also came to an agreement about establishing embassies.

Amidst numerous declarations of war against Spain, Theodora approached Suleiman about also joining the war against Isabella. Suleiman understood the mutual hatred for Spain held by the continent but knew it would be foolish to get involved in such a conflict.

Ottoman explorers found the city of Rio de Janeiro.

Hiawatha and Montezuma, looking for living space, declared war.

Embassies swapped with the Byzantines.

Montezuma and Suleiman came to an agreement about embassies just as the Aztec-Iroquois war ended.

Ramesses and Suleiman made an open declaration of friendship.

Arabian-Ottoman embassies swapped.

The city of Lhasa was found by Ottoman explorers.

Ottoman explorers found the city of Cahokia, another mercantile people.

The city of Colombo was populated by similar folks.

Our finest architects began to master the secrets of construction during this period.

Our prophet was born in Istanbul where he began to spread to us Islam.

The Great Lighthouse of Istanbul began illuminating the seas of the world paving the way for Ottoman domination of the oceans.

The formation of Guilds greatly increased the wealth of the Ottoman Republic.

Trade in the Ottoman Republic began to increase rapidly.

The building of the Hanging Gardens in Istanbul served to provide a new expanded means of feeding the populace.

A class of horsemen began to arise in Istanbul.

The city of Ankara began to flourish just north of Istanbul during this period.

Foreign Affairs

Spoiler :

Ottoman explorers were able to save citizens of Cahokia from a barbarous tribe in the northern part of the continent.

The city of Mumbai fell to Byzantine forces. They came to a peace agreement however.

The city of Heliopolis fell to Byzantine forces as well.

Aztec workers soon found freedom at the hands of Ottoman explorers as well.
