Would be so much better if larger map sizes were available. As it is, you have to carefully select opponents to avoid crowding. And islands such as Hawaii, Japan and a lot of islands are barely even worth colonizing. AI Japan is practically crippled.

... and japan they both do just fine. Its a great map, you look at those little islands and think it cannot be done... but it can.
Its a great training map and a great sharing map. I just wish Kongo had the zulus in Africa and the Brazilians has the incans or Argentinians or similar in south america... and of course the Americans can have donald trump in north america

Play as Australia. No other Civs near you till you get land unit embarking. then had East to the top of South America for a Canal City. Lost of island around Main land to set up City Base / Encampments to beat down any approaching units before the hit the main land. A little slow on the growth side of things but if you go for God of the sea Pantheon you will have a Production Machine. and then just wait for the DoW to come to you and you will steam roll them soon enough.

How-ever now they have added some new early game War Civs might be fun and hard to go one of them. Persia, Macedon, Gorgo, Scythia and Rome all in the same starting area. hell that sure would be challenging.

I would like a larger version of the True Earth map as well.

I would also like the ability to tweak the Earth map's settings by raising/lowering sea level, planet age and climate.

Could make for some great global warming, Ice Age or post-Apocalyptic settings. :)

Times like these I really wish that developers would work more with the community and modders. Implementing YnAEMP into the game as the official TSL map would rock!

Japan is particularly bad. I've won with England on Deity.
Playing China often I don't even bother to conquer it unless Hojo Dow on me, which seldom happens. The Japan island is so small and there isn't any attractive resource. It is even worse under the AI control. Its second settler typically gets stuck for at least 150 turns and the AI still won't send it out even it has the ship building tech.

The most ridiculous part is that japan's civ abilities are additional district adjacency bonus and half cost for building some districts...... But there is simply not much land to take advantage of these bonuses.

Same if you play Macedonia, Rome has no room to build on the peninsula. AI problem is that he won't move to southern France but aimlessly wanders back and forth. If you move your warrior over you can even start with a second city having captured that roman settler.

Try as Kongo with Zanzibar, Kumasi and a volcano next to you with all Africa to yourself and all that scrummy jungle. Equally Brazil. Oz does not have dibs on OP in this game and if NZ was there you would not stand a chance, have you seen all their sheep!

All it needs is another sheep tile above the 1 source of iron to be competitive. ;)
