Simple map. This is the fruit of my missile research. The AI has decided to use missiles under certain conditions.

I am using an air unit for this preview, but the same principle applies to naval units.

Play it 2-4 times. The AI sometimes decides to act in a surprisingly realistic way with air units as you'll see.

RULES:

1- You MUST right click the enemy galley and establish contact with the enemy nation first.

2- You MUST nuke the galley, which I conveniently renamed 'Nuke me'. It won't trigger war. Its just a temporary fix for the missiles.

3- You MUST declare war.

Press enter until the enemy runs out of missiles, and watch their behavior. I think I'm up to something here :)

Yes airplanes actually fly as far as they have to to deliver their payload! I like this better than the standard routine. It blends a couple of routines together.

After a lot more testing so far it looks like the only way to instruct the AI to load and fire such missiles is by using the nuke strategy. Testing my remaining options.

Have you tried to solve it like in the excellent 1989 scenario where the cruise missiles are made Air units with Tactical Missile flag?

I have but the AI did not load them within 50-100 turns. Does the AI actually load them in that scenario?

I might go check it out.

Sorry that I don't remember where, but there have been discussions (with solutions) about using the nuke flag for non-nuke results.

Oh man that would have been useful. I know you can use the nuke flag to stop units from being destroyed when a nuke hits, or so I read from Civinator I think.
