So, I have been playing Civ 5 since the day it came out, and while I do have my complaints, I like the idea of the game itself. I think once they get everything patched, it will be the best war Civ game that there has been.

With that said, I was getting tired of the same old strat, make horse, kill until you are content, then finish the game with whatever vic your going for. I decided to try something a little different this time around.

I pulled random/standard size/immortal lvl, and I got the Chinese, My favorite Civ. Instead of bee lining for G Library, trying to pop civil service with it, I went mining right off the bat. In fact, I set my tech tree to go straight to Machinery.

I made a scout to start, followed by a worker, and I hit writing from a hut. So, I went with a paper maker for my next choice. As soon as my paper maker was complete, I stuck a scientist in there. Well, some how, I ended up getting the Great Library after that, and it was on the same turn that I picked Engineering. I think the AI passed on the Library this time, because the Lighthouse, Colossus, Hanging Gardens were all made prior too.

Well, I took engineering and machinery was 48 turns to complete. However, my city popped a G scientist about 4 turns into it. So, in 1300 BC, I was making my first UU. I made 4 of them, and 1 horse, only because you cannot take over a city with ranged units. This strat worked very well, and I killed 3 civs by 1AD.

This strat will work on any lvl as long as you make that paper maker ASAP, and, get a scientist in it right away. Even without the G Library, Engineering would have only taken 20 something turns, and my G scientist would have popped for machinery anyway. Without the G Library, I would have had my first UU by around 1000 BC, rather then around 1100-1200 when it was finally done.

There is nothing on the map that can handle the Chinese UU at this timeline. I overpowered everything and everyone, even Siams powerful Elephants did not stand a chance. Plus, once I finally do hit rifles, all my rifles will have attack twice, and one of them, still my first scout, will also have double movement, gotta love the weapons huts.

Now I know that I got lucky with the hut giving me writing, but, give or take a few turns to learn it yourself and you will still have the toughest units on the board for 1000 years.
