Hi,
I would like to hear more. Your savefile indicates some remarkable achievements.
- You have only a single Worker, presumably from adopting Citizenship on turn 25. Even so, you were still able to sell 2 Spices on turn 35, and you improved at least 22 tiles.
- To develop Spices, you needed to research Mining and Calendar. You were nonetheless able to sign a Research Agreement with Siam on turn 38, costing 250g rather than 200g.
- You had met all other civs on your continent, including Japan, on turn 42.
- Beijing is only size 4, and your other cities are size 1. You had one brief Golden Age,
- my buildorder was: scout, worker, monument, warri, settler I think and I bought a scout as soon as I had 140gold I think
as for scouting - well as said after going on this hill which let u see ais settler (guess most went there - only hill close - I figured I needed scout 2 direction and as warri was ne alleady I just keept going there. Most civs meet me on this other subcontinent ....
Also I sent the bought scout over there after my warri discovered the landbrige and meet 1. civ (other scout was stuck between some barbs in corner..) aswell as the warri (warri went north and meet india and russia and scout meet japen in end
And to barbs well - I never ever fight barbs in like 1. 50 tuns of any game (only if they enter land) - so I just moved past it - barbs like take ai workers which makes some nice cs mission

-I like barbs

also they got a attacking pattern u have to know - they usually never attack u the 1. turn they see u - u have take advantage of that and just move close to them even when u think u mioght die
As for gold - as soon as I had worked my lux I sold it to 1 civ (think mongolia), declared war and sold to another - mongolia wasnt happy - but I have been ...
some think that might be "lame" - well that way u r hanycaped by not beeing able to have a RA partner - so it got a tradeoff
For the cities sizes .. I let them starv in end to fight unhappyness - bejing had been grwoing fast in start (helps teching ..) and then size 6 for quite some time and other cities 2-3
And had a lot of workers - but disbanded some for gold and had 2 die to barbs ships (semiintended to save costs) which went scouting (former siams ones and city state)
After armies was formed and the lux were worked .. well workers are useless (same as scouts going into "the dark" - useless stuff gets disbanded ...
The armies were mainly bought and upgraded, I built lot of warries early on and even when some died (think 2 to siam and then 3 more) I still had 3 or so to upgrade. The longswrds killing Athen were bought (no no more big expenses after doing the RA agreement in like turn 50 and buying some pikes) - I had 1 ship aswell which I disbanded afetr I scouted all cost till ice in south ... (and killed like 10 barb ships while doing).
Trading with ai gives u more units as u could ever produce by hammers
oh and RA path - well very basic - minning-->calender-->philo and then all the prequisite techs for the astro RA agreeemnts techs and blocking (think sailing 1. for ships) - while RAs were going in i teched to iron and then straight on to steel, I had Iron later then I usually do, but with this early Siam RA agreemnt I had to be careful with blocking all and getting prequisits
