TSG31 After Action Report

I too watched the first half (so far). Madness! I never even thought of saving heals either. It's a whole different game the way you play. Nice win!

someone gave Dave's video a dislike. that's cold.

im not gonna submit as ive actually watched the vids before playing and had way too much map knowledge for it to be an honest game. but the info from the vids (his and Tab's) are so valuable. they made it look like child's play. really well done.

Victory t309

I tried a LK "rush" by teching straight to civi service. It worked, but it was slow. I was easily able to swamp India and even fend off Rome and France. All 3 declared on me right before I attacked India. Brute -> Swords is a bit expensive and pikes don't have any upgrades in their own path.

I had a very merry warmonger time. The areas past England were never settled, but the CS boundaries grew quite a bit. My first cat ended up as a nearly completely promoted Art. I needed 1 more promo for the entire set.

Too bad pikes don't promote to knights. They are just pikemen on horses...

2upt!

I would like to see something like this. Like putting an archer on a horse(after a tech discovery).

that was an AWESOME game. i loved the setup. the mountainous impasses and narrow landways made for some interesting showdowns. i gained a huge appreciation for the panzer; that is one great UU.

city states charged me and took my cities FOUR TIMES! Sidon took a city that he could have razed, but he decided not to. Venice took 3 of my cities and razed 2 of them. i was able to take one back i time, but its tough when my army is off fighting a civilization somewhere else.

i was really happy with some of the AI moves, even though they resulted in difficulties for me, it was great to see them do smart things, like target all of my panzers/infantry so i was left with an army of only artillery that couldnt take the city, well not until i sent in some reinforcements. Also, I went on a wonder spree, getting collosus, hagia sophia, notre dame, procelein tower, and angor wat in a matter of 3 turns. immediately the entire world declared war on me. they werent about to let me sit back and reap the benefits of all those wonders.

Thanks Lief! now i gotta go back and finish the alexander game that i put on hold! this GOTM training series is great for trying to win in different ways than i otherwise would have.

My first submission - That was fun and at least I won!

Hard work... but 1992 domination victory is respectable... Think this is the first time I've got to nuke someone when it was actually worth it!

Will look forward to next months :)

Not being a specialist in classical warfare, Plan A was to out-tech the AI for a Renaissance-Industrial conquest. I settled on the river hill and expanded west to a 5-city empire. I only had 2 iron within my original city borders, but 2 trebs + knights and landsknecht were sufficient to take out India and Rome. With PT I anticipated a rapid push to Panzers and beyond (Stealth!) but my plan was undone by the most duplicitous set of leaders I have ever met in CiV. After the fourth broken RA, I opted for Plan B (effectively a Rifle beeline using stored GS from turn 130 onward). In hindsight, Plan B should have been Plan A. Army Group 1 turned east from Rome to conquer Ottoman, French and Russian empires, whilst Army Group 2 headed west through Greece to England. I was looking towards a sub-210 finish but got bogged down by the defensively awkward location of Moscow. The fact that I am mildly disappointed with this score on Immortal shows how useful these TGS games are for improving our skills:- thanks again!

Hmmm. As I'd predicted. The part of Civ that I enjoy the most is the settling part and building, so I guess that I don't have the killer instinct to go for the jugular like DaveMcW did (wow!). I ended up in second place, in a bitter war with Catherine after having taken out Rome and India. Catherine had an enclave-type tundra city SE of Delhi that she used as a stepping-off point to nuke all of the cities that I acquired from India. After a long hard fight I had recently gained the upper hand, starting to conquer my way through Catherine's cities that she'd gotten from the Ottomans in the north and reconquering Delhi. But it was clear that the effort would take too long to finish. Catherine won in a diplo, and since I was at war with all of her CSs, there wasn't anything that I could do about it.

I had been thinking that I should have gone after Gandhi in an early rush. Then I saw DaveMcW's win and saw that he didn't do that and won in 114 turns -- so I guess that I still didn't have the right instinct!

Turn 320. Domination. Bismark.

nothing special about this one.

I won on turn 315 last night. I didn't think I was going to win for the longest time and felt like retiring, but I stuck through and ended up winning. I didn't capture any cities until Artillery. India build the great wall and all those mountains and hills by our start made it impossible to attack at all. When he obsoleted his GW though I steamrolled him and the whole world until Russia.

I nuked Russia and landed 6 modern armor on the shores of her capitol and used my 28 stealth bombers to clear any resistance. She couldn't kill 1 modern armor and I only needed 8 stealth bombers...I guess its better to over prepare than under :D

Made it off the ground, which I didn't expect to, the Barbarian recruitment really helped. Defeated France, bogged down against Rome. Finally got it, but by then India had flight, and I was just getting Cannon. Wasn't sure if I could declare war on India without ending up at war with everyone, so I settled into peaceful mode. Eventually Gandhi attacked. I thought I was going to fend him off, but then he nuked Berlin, and captured Germany proper. I ended up holding Rome and Paris until Russia finished their spaceship.

Never played on Immortal before, So I'm just happy to have made it as far as I did.

got t137

beelined iron working, and used liberty finisher (with oracle) and gl for metal casting and steel

settled on the 6 iron and first army captured rome (t49), istanbul (t73) and paris (t86, great wall), upgraded to lsm and sent to moscow (t115)

second army (4 lsm and many landsknechts) sent west to london (t126) and athens (t137)

first army sent home and took delhi (t136) on his way

sold some cities to keep happiness above -10

never even tried for early rush, thought about doing it with LKs then it all came apart as my RA got wasted in 5 successive DOWS FROM ALMOST EVERYONE : Alex, Nappy, Sully, Liz and Sully again. I never signed one with Rome fully expecting themt o dow me, and they and Ghandi didnt. SO i fought defensively, after early aborted counter against Alex which fizzled at the narrow land bridge, pretty close to breaking through though, and i teched for Panzers while building knights to upgrade. once i started rolling it was over quick with London falling last to amphibious assault. I took Sully out 1st Nappy 2nd , Ghandi, Cathy and then Alex. Two armies. fun game
congrats on sick finish times guys

I had a nice start, but lost focus and failed to capitalize. Before I knew it I was behind and fighting on multiple fronts. When I started losing cities to enemy City-States I knew it was time to give up! How humiliating.
Fun game Lief, but I'm looking forward to an easier TSG32.
