also, dont be the one to ask them for a DoF. wait til they ask you. they simply wont agree unless you are trying to renew an expiring DoF on the turn it expired. (sometimes they wont come back to renew it and you have to.) things can delay it like sniping them on a wonder or friending their enemy or replacing them as an ally with a CS.

Hello everyone. This is my first post and my first GOTM. :)

Going into the game I wanted to focus on the Inca UI and science (x military). I think I did quite well, but I made lots of mistakes - mainly not placing my cities next to mountains (so lost out on observatory except for 3rd city).

Settled:
2nd north of desert mountains (rushed for Petra)
3rd next to Uluru
4th coast east of capital

Got a lot of workers (built, culture, Pyramids) and then almost didn't have enough work for them. But was good to quickly improve locations.

Got a lot of slingers for the unique promotion. Built about 6 before reaching construction (mainly for terrace farm). Upgraded to composite bowmen for very strong army.

Deflected Japanese attack (if I remember correctly). Didn't actively go into war, so accepted good peace treaty terms.

Some problems with happiness around the 4th city, but managed to clear up.

Strong Faith focus, took +1 happiness on rivers (was low), then +10% growth when at peace.

Overall no big problems, but that's thanks to the King difficulty level and the very nice terrain. Inca UA and UI are excellent! :)

I decided I want to do an LP for this game. I liked the map start and I wanted to try an LP for Civ5 and see how it went and also see how I could improve my game by people giving me tips afterward. I've got my first episode up and have another one the way.

I started with Pottery (wanted both buildings early) -> Mining (get and sell the salt) -> Writing (GL and use bulb on Philosophy). I picked up Aristocracy to boost production on the GL and got the marble running in time to boost the NC. This got me Great Library on T46 and NC on T54. When I finished NC I had 1000 gold stocked up for buying settlers.

Anyway, this is how i started. I'll be sending this to the LP board I think :) Oh, and thanks for the Petra maps, GoTM :P

Second episode ends on T98. I buy the three settlers, get several wonders (Pyramids being key to making Terrace farms finish faster because they are slow), and Oda decides he wants to play, but I did have a couple composite bows ready for that and his pathetic invasion fails. I get religion from Stonehenge and currently building Hagia Sophia to enhance the religion quicker. Happiness is a current issue but that happens when you put down 3 cities basically at the same time. Amusingly, my growth is so high that I'm actually worried that I'll grow so fast that I'll hit -10 at this point, but I think my happiness will be coming up soon.

I have a problem. My game crashed somewhere between turns 240 and 250 (I'm not sure at which turn it was), and my most recent auto-save was at turn 240. What do I do about this? I've restarted at my last auto-save. Is that breaking the rules? Thanks to anyone who answers me!

You are going to have to reload from the last autosave and try to play it as closely as you can remember to what you had done. If you cannot replicate it, then you may have to pass up submission for this game.

In future, please let us know about this via PM.

Also, you should have your autosave set to 1 turn. :)

I did exactly that. Reloaded from last auto-save and played it exactly as I had done before the crash. I also set it to 1 turn intervals for the auto-save :)

Thanks!
