I have added a new feature to the maps section of the secure site. You can now view the entire world map as well as the local map. The World Map will not be updated as frequently as the local maps, but will be available for viewing so that you can see our relative size to the entire planet. This map is drawn in full scale and the black areas represent the unexplored sections of the world in their entirety - the size of this map will not change. While there is little new info to be gleamed from this at this time, one can certainly see the relative size of our continent to the rest of the world.

Here are a few points about the turn:
  • Jiang Mapi needs 7s to produce the archer. One more turn of +4spt and then we switch back to +2fpt and +3spt to complete the archer in 2 turns while only delaying the growth of that city by 1 turn (6 turns to go).
  • After finding the second Swordsman and with the possibility of sustaining significant damage to our existing horseman (ie. a lucky barbarian strike), I opted to enqueue the galley in Zhi Gang instead of inserting it into the production immediately. Of course, we can still change it next turn, but after that, whichever we build is going to be built.
  • At least one worker should be sent down to the fur tile NW of Zhi Gang to clear the forest there. That will not only speed completion of the galley (or whatever) in that city, but will also allow that tile to produce +2fpt, +2spt and +2cpt just like the other fur tile near that city. If we send one worker, the forest can be cleared in 8 turns, but if we send both, it can be cleared in 6. In other words, if we send one, we should build something small (10s or 20s) between the horseman and galley to avoid wasting shields. If we send two, we can have the galley completed in 4 turns after the horseman is complete.

The news of our military being average to GCA and CDG is both a blessing and a curse. It means we've built our forces up and that GCA has lost a good number of units, but it also means CDG has lost a good number of immortals. I can only draw the conclusion that their strike on Catchopolis, supposedly carried out over the last few turns, has ultimately failed.

Also, we've dropped in world size - down from 7 to 8. Someone has built or captured a city, and I believe it to be the first. GCA, which, I think, formerly the smallest state, has built a new city.

As we haven't built any units from last turn, the boost in our comparitive strengths must mean that both CDG and GCA have lost at least a few units each to bring them down to our level.

Also, the size you're referring to, if I'm not mistaken, deals with land area, not necessarily with number of cities. For instance, APO has 8 cities, but in a very, VERY tight build. If I'm correct, then it could also be a result of cultural expansion of existing borders.
