Turn Discussion Thread

Absolutely move Hebe to spawnbust, at 4.4 strength she'll be fine if any new barbs show while she's moving.

The rest of the plan sounds good to me. I'd like to get a maceman in soon though. Maybe after the worker in Arcturus? It would be nice to take the barbarian city before they build a serious unit and make things more complicated.

Edit: Meant Arcturus, typed canopus.

I'm honestly a lot more worried about the Amazonians poaching our Andromeda city sites than the Mavericks taking the pig/clam/clam site, but that depends on how much the rest of the team trusts Amazon. They've already indicated with the barb city that they are thinking about expanding further on Andromeda -- i really don't want to push our luck by continuing to delay settling there.

I think that Arcturus and Vega can now work on settling the rest of Bode themselves and the Home cities can focus on getting Andromeda settled.

Also since Sirius is to be our Science center which city will be the gold maker? Canopus?

Also for turn 83 do we want to move Pallas (the warrior west of Vega) to move 1NW on to plains hill?

We need Optics at least for caravels to get the round world reward.

We also got Machinery from CDZ this turn.

I am going to try to do some micro planning this weekend, but I thought we should discuss some of our short term goals. I will post these as I think of them.

Workers on Sol: Next turn both chops will be done. Both HUSch (at Alpha Centauri) and caveman1917 (at Sirius) are currently standing on silk tiles. One option is have one of them build a plantation on the tile they are on. This would be a quick +3C to that tile, but a cottage is probably a better long term investment. OTOH, we will need a extra silk source at some point for resource trading. So the options I see are:

HUSch:
  1. Builds plantation on silk
  2. Moves 1W to cottage flood plain
  3. Move 1E (to silk), 1NE (silk again) or 1SE (grassland) to chop
  4. Move 2N or 2SE to build mine.

My preference: cottage FP. (Then what?)

caveman1917:

  1. Builds plantation on silk
  2. Moves 1SE (or 1E) to cottage
  3. Moves to the green hill 2W of Sirius to mine. (can be shared w/ AC).

My preference: cottage 1SE, then mine hill 2W of Sirius.

I would say we want 4 silk resources total, and we have 6, so we can cottage 2 of them. One of these should be the one in the BFC of Sirius, because we want the highest possible long term commerce output there. I'd assume the second should be one of the Alpha Centauri/Canopus shared tiles, but it doesn't matter so much. Note that we should already have access to the silk resource via the one Alpha Centauri is settled on, so there's no hurry to build a plantation.

So, I think caveman1917 should build nothing but cottages for a while once he's finished chopping, starting with the silk tile that he's on already. Also, prioritise building cottages on the river tiles over the other grasslands.

New Turn has begun!

Sirius Granary will be complete next turn, and grow to size 7 in 3 turns.
Alpha Centurai will finish in 3 turns, will grow in 8 turns
Canopus will finish in 2 turns, will grow to size 6 in 4 turns

Arcturus is currently building Worker in 4 turns.

We could have Hush Plantation his Silk and Caveman to cottage his.

Also where should we move Hebe and Asatrea.

Should we move Pallas to discover the rest of the map or fortify in place to fogbust.

Pallas should move west to explore the coast. She can do this while still fogbusting the entire tip, so I see no reason not to.

If Astrea is healthy she should move 1S that will reveal the nearest fogged tile and will cover a wide area with her fogbusting ability, where she goes from there, I'm not sure yet. Hebe should continue to move SE, trying to get back to the site our warrior was fogbusting before the giant barbarian attack.

On the granary building :goodjob: That's very good news both for our growth rate and for the whip.

We could have Hush Plantation his Silk and Caveman to cottage his.

I would recommend that HUSch move 1W and start to cottage the flood plain. We should probably start working cottages as soon as we can.

I also agree with all of Grant's suggestions.

Edit: Also, I think the next build after the Granary in Sirius should be a Lighthouse (as Irgy suggested). The chop overflow and Bureaucracy + OR hammer bonuses means that the LH will be done in 1 turn.

When moving our military units I found the Merlot Holkan unit:

I haven't moved the WB yet but we don't have many hours left, is there time to wait for a reply?

And the other copper. I don't see any sign of their culture yet, though.

Edit: by "their culture" I meant Mavericks, not Merlot, obviously. :crazyeye:

I'd just leave it where it is while we work this out.

The game appears to be up again, although there is some question as to whether it should be rolled back to an earlier save since some teams didn't get to finish that last turn before the crash.

I logged in briefly and Quatronia had offered us the 40 gold, so I gifted them Voyager (along with a gold vinyl record of greetings from everyone in the Sirian Empire) per our agreement. I or AlphaShard will post screen shots, or summarize the current state of affairs once we know that we are not going to roll back to an earlier save.

Edit: It looks like we will replay from the end of the last turn. In that case, the swap with Quatronia will have to be repeated.

My autosave apparently took place before I ordered the workers and military units. So we've missed a turn somehow.

Sirius finished it's Granary and is going to be build a lighthouse in one turn.

Lord Parkin is free, Vega will culture pop in 4 turns and LP can finish a mine on the grass hill he is on.

Caveman and Husch have been given their Cottage builds they were supposed to have started last turn and moved Asatrea and Hebe as well. WB has been sold to Quatronia.

Will update Turn Tracker when we've decided on LP's actions.

We haven't missed a turn. I think they haven't rolled back to your autosave yet, but we can still log-in. Dave said he wouldn't be able to do it until ~5:30 or so Arizona time.

Oh ok I didn't realize what timezone he was in. I thought it was weird to see 32 hours on the timer.
