[BTS] Turn normal games to BUFFY games?

Perhaps I am imagining things, but I seem to recall that last time I was active here about a year ago, there turned up information about how to turn normal saves into saves that could be loaded when using the BUFFY mod. Do anybody remember this? Is it possible?

The reason I ask is that I only have BUFFY installed right now, and not BUG, and it was always a bit of a pain to keep switching the dll around anyway. So it would be neat if it was possible to morph normal/BUG games into games I could play using the BUFFY (Hall of Fame) mod.

As long as you do not have LMA enabled (so you can open WB), you can create a WB save in WB and then play that save as a scenario or custom scenario. Just note that at any point you do that other than Turn 0 that everything like gold, beakers, gpp gets reset to 0. As far as I know, if LMA is active in the game then it is impossible to convert that game to another mod.

I should note that I've never had an issue running games in BAT or BUFFY with the BULL DLL active. The only issue is that once a game is generated in BAT or BUFFY, with BULL DLL active, then the game can only be opened by others with the BULL DLL active.

The Steam version though created another issue.

Cheers, that must be what was mentioned before too, on how to convert 'normal' games to BUFFY. As you mention, it would only really be feasible in T0. The reason I asked was actually the Emperor shadow game. But I bit the bullet and installed BUG and BULL. The issue with BULL is that we need to juggle the DLLs around when playing the competitive games with BUFFY. Not a big deal unless you switch between them a lot. Haven't you had to do this? It was my understanding, also from recently reading the BUG readme file, that we need to juggle them around (with backups ofc, never overwrite the original file).

I'm sure there are scripts to do it automatically, but I'm not sure how to do that, and am on Linux anyway, which would require different code than on Windows. So this will have to suffice :)

Yes, I've used .bat files to switch dlls in a nanosecond. I have been doing that for many years. I've no clue what one would do in Linux, but I'll attach the files anyway.

Cheers, I downloaded your file and actually had it from before (asked whether to overwrite) :D

The code would have to be different on a Linux system as .bat files won't work, and I'm not confident enough with that to have a go. But it's not that big a deal. From the above screenshot, I simply delete the 'plain' file and copy and rename whichever version I need. Doesn't take long, it's just a little awkward if I happen to be switching between forum games and competitive games a lot.
