Turn off Science?

I haven't played much C5, but in previous versions there was a way to essentially zero out the science (especially after getting to the Future Tech era). Is there a way to do that in C5 or do I just have to keep getting FTs every few turns? That is w/o destroying my science buildings.

Thanks in advance. Sorry if this question has been asked before but I wasn't finding a thread for it.

I don't think there is a way, since you get Science output from your citizens. Why would you want to turn it off anyway?

There is no use in 'putting off' science, unless you don't like the FT pop-ups ;)
Selling off your science buildings will net you gold + GPT, though.

once you get to FT's, there's little use for science except to get bonus points for them. i'd rather use any production on other stuff (i.e. production or gold) if possible. any suggestions on what i can do to minimize science while producing more wealth/production? I know i can focus a city, but besides that?

You don't lose any production by making science, unless you are running a bunch of science specialists instead of engineers and mines and stuff. Science is produced by your population, and science buildings only add modifiers to increase science output. The only production used in science is the production used to build science buildings or if you decide to "build" research in your cities. Other than that, production is not affected by science at all.
