Turning off Wonder movies

I believe there is a setting in the civ.ini file... I think its something to do with popup screens or something.... I was in there a couple of nights ago, so I could be wrong...

From the READ ME:

I went into Civ4 folder and found the configure file.. something like _civ4config.
Then scroll down to find a line that says "set to 1 for no in game movies"
Then I changed the next line to "no movies =1" If you ever want to turn the movies back on then change the 1 to a 0.
I had to turn the movies off so the game wouldnt crash. I seen a half dozen of them and thats about all I needed. then it started crashing every movie. I wouldve turned them off eventually after I seen them all anyways, just to keep the game running faster. After I did above steps, the intro movie and alll in game movies quit playing and I havent had a crash since.
Thanx Myartar for all the other edits. Ive been meaning to turn off auto save as well. Now I will

Had the same trouble with my games. I have an Nvidia Ge Force 5200 graphics card with 32 MB of memory, and when I first installed the game, i got to watch the first few world wonder movies and then the game crashed to desktop almost every time I built a wonder. I updated my graphics card drivers, however, and the problem went away.

Yea Ive been meaning to D/L latest driver, just havent yet... (Im lazy)
Seriously, I have a bargain hunters Geforce fx 5200 128mg card, game runs fairly smoothly, gets slower at end of large map. The movies were performance disasters for my system, so I shut em off, and it runs better. And also I can run several other things in the background as well, I stay on-line in several windows and hop back and forth from the game.

is it possible to turn off the animated leader faces?

Actuaaaaally thats a good question. That I dont know the answer to. I would like to do that as well. Also shutting down the flowing landscape, like the flowing rivers and trees and such. You should start a thread, someone out there should know

I've heard that there's a mod somewhere which does what you want DeadFish but I don't know where it is :p

i think, to shut down river flowing, tick the animations frozen and effects disabled in graphics option. not too sure what they are

the UN is annoying and boring, please figure out a way to turn this thing off.
