Turns 21-40

we're now 2nd in land area. that's not good since we were at once ahead of everyone in settler production. I realize that city placement is a factor, but we need to keep in mind that settlers from other cities will help in this matter too.
 
With 5 locations we are at 11.6 tiles per town. That is pretty low compared to a wider spread of the settlers. I do not think we should put too much concern into this. With all the F11 screens we have very good intel on the other teams and the team closest in production is Free (probably 1 - 2 turns later than us) Maybe settlers/locations are able to pop from GHs? It is still very early for any secondary cities to have generated any extra settlers, we had the first settler built and LF could have built a Settler though it is unlikely someone would have opted for such a plan in another team.
 
From what I read in Wacken's spoilers, that is exactly what he would have done. I think that LF could have built a settler, but I'm not sure that risk would have been worth it. It seems as though barbs are starting to become a little restless, so warriors are a good idea.
 
Had I played this game on my own I would have built a Settler in LF after the Warrior/Worker duo. Then that Settler would be ready in 3 turns from now. But there was a push for us to have curraghs to speed up meeting others. Unfortunately we cannot have everything so have to try to negotiate a common ground for us to play from. There is a risk in going "a bit of this and a bit of that" but then again we are a large group with somewhat differing opinions so this will continue to happen.
 
In multiplayer you do need the extra effort put into contacts and defence, so while I totally agree with your play in SP, here the settings demand a bit more safety.

We are 2gpt behind the leader and a single spt. And Hef's is at it's lowest at size three so we are really not in a difficult situation. 3 turns to Philo!
There was some discussion about LF build, are we still go for a Worker? It will be ready in two.
next settler in 3 turns, where should he go? I posted a dotmap a couple of turns ago. The current Settler is going to "4". One possible location if we are not going for coastal fillers is near the good food tiles NW of Imelda's. Another the tile where the GH used to be, tundra next to game.

- new settler head NW of Imelda is fine with me

one question though... have we decided on what we wanted for the free tech? I would argue math, CoL or literature for varying reasons
 
Wow 1spt and 2gpt? How did you get that to such an exact number Wotan?
I'd like the settler in LF too but think a worker makes more sense right now.

On the philo free tech I'm inclined to go lit for the libs. I think we have the fear of MW's with the other teams so attacking us wouldn't make sense. With that said I feel we'll have peace for awhile so cranking up the science machine earliest makes sense to me. Republic is a long ways away and would need a research partner imo. The only other thing I'd consider would be map making to carry some MW's. :satan:

I just wanted to post in this thread to say what a great idea you had, Wotan! :goodjob: I don't do multi-player except in MTDG, and I'd never have thought of that.
