Tutorial problem

I was working my way through the tutorial and I had just about finished the third one about characters. I was just about to found the third city after influencing all the characters I needed. I figured I had gotten the point and I just quit, thinking I'd be able to go on to the next tutorial.

But because of the REALLY STUPID notion of locking tutorials(!) I cannot go on to the fourth until I have technically completed the third and I didn't save.before quitting.

I suppose I can just do the third over, or maybe just go on to the game itself and pick up the rest, but is there any way I can set some config file or something to say I've done the third?

Thanks.

Not a direct answer to your question but you should be able to load an auto save (they are automatically created in the /auto folder within your saves), complete the third tutorial from where you left it and proceed.

Thank you! I had looked for auto saves but didn't realize you had to double click on the folder (doh!). Found a save that's close enough.

(I still think locking tutorials is a bad idea) But problem solved.

Honestly, the "in game" tutorial is great for teaching you as you go (as another option).

The reason it is done like that is because the tutorial progression assumes you learnt knowledge from the previous one. I'm sure you noticed tutorials 2 and 3 have you start from the same situation, but in 2 it takes you through the "4x" side of the game, but in 3 it is taking you through the "characters" side of the game letting you do the 4x side how you want. That's the same for tutorial 4 which builds on top of the knowledge from 2&3, and 5 is the usual "battle tutorial".

Probably too late now but if you open GameOptionsSave.xml file you can add SCENARIO_LEARNTOPLAY_1 (2, 3, 4, 5) to the completed scenarios tag to signify completed. Then do them whatever order you want.

But having learned the "character" side of things I didn't see why I had to do the "4x" side a second time, I just wanted to move on. Similarly, I'm probably never going to do the 5th tutorial the "right" way because I'll never have the patience to fulfill eight ambitions in the fourth tutorial -- I kind of caught on after the second or third ambition.

<shrug> It's not that big a deal. I'm sure the way you did it won't bother someone less curmudgeonly than myself.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. It's early days yet, but I think I'm going to like this game a lot. Love the music.
