Just reading in the manual that there is a tutorial to learn to play.

I am wondering if it's worth it for experienced players, or only if this is your first civ game (where have you been the last 19 years?? )

It's up to you. I think experianced players probably could learn from it, but likely would be fine playing a game right off the bat with the advisors on etc.

I find this surprising to see, because Shafer was quoted as saying he hated tutorials and they were focusing on making the advisors do the job instead.

Usually tutorials for games in genres you are already familiar with are pretty boring. I wouldn't expect anything too great of this one, particularly for experienced civvers.

Oh noes! Im cancelling my preorder right now and wont buy the game until they take the tutorial out! This is not what they prmoised!

If there's a tutorial I, personally, wouldn't waste my time with it. I mean, we've pretty well seen all of the features in Civ5. There's not a whole lot more for us to learn besides through actual gameplay.

for a lot of people, Civ V will their first experience with Civ. It makes sense that there would be a tutorial. Hell, even though we've speculated endlessly about how the game mechanics will work in Civ V, and even though a lot of us have poured over the manual, I plan on playing the tutorial.

Tutorials are for girls.

Hell, manuals are too. I downloaded the manual, just so I could burn it. And I didn't print it, either. I burned the whole laptop just to prove my point.
