I was wondering if it's possible to tweak cIV's graphics outside of the normal interface. For example, is it possible to run cIV without textures, etc. by using some console commands?
If you add
cheatcode=chipotle
i the ini file, then in unprotected single player games you can hit ctrl-d to bring up a debug window..
From this you can turn off various textures. There are prolly console commands for them too.. but dont know what they are
Thanks for the help, Gyathaar. I already tried the console too, but I couldn't find the proper commands. The debug mode answers my question.
I was hoping it could help my friend whose system is below minimimum specs, but I don't think it'll do. Unfortunately, freezing entities, removing the water, waves and flags is basically the only thing the debug window can do to improve performance, without making the game unplayable.
I hope somebody could drop a 2D/performance mod for cIV, since my friend isn't able to upgrade his system, right now. We'll just have to play freeCiv right now (I don't own cIII), even though it's very tedious compared to cIV IMHO.
