Two succesive CS coups???

The celts used their spy for a coup in an allied CS. I dropped from 90 to 20, they where the new ally with 65. I paid 1000 gold in the same turn to be the ally again, only to receive another coup message the next turn! I dropped to 50 again.

Is this possible?


EDIT: It just happened again, 3 or 4 turns later. Earlier, I paid tribute to the CS again to see what happens, so I was their ally once more before the third coup.

Yes, it's possible. Happens all the time to me. (I swear though, I've had an at-war enemy AI coup one of my CSs, but I need for it to happen again so I can double-check. That shouldn't be possible).

The one thing I really don't get with coups, is what determines when you drop right down to 10 or so and when you merely go below them but stay healthily in the green.

Coups are one of those things the AI is suspiciously good at, it just always seems to beat the odds on coup attempts.
