Tzar is a Bulgarian strategy game set in a medieval fantasy world. It has three factions, the Europeans (who are an amalgam of Byzantines and Bulgarians), the Asians and the Arabians.
Gameplay is centered on mining gold and building large armies which are further customized by special objects which you can either find on the map or buy. Also the units have experience points.
I remember fondly this game. It was fun to play, and in my view it stands very well next to the much more famous titles of the genre, such as Warcraft.
Unfortunately being a Bulgarian game it seems to not have had much of a marketing success. However if you can find it it is worth a try
