I've play quite a few Warlord games & I find that I never use my UBs properly, or I'm not leveraging them to my advantage.

Can you please give me a Few Suggestionw and ideas to improve my game play with UBs?

A few synergetic strategies would be kool,

maybe I'm Playing Civs that have Weak UB or they come too late in the game... becuase I win beofre then (I Don't know) lol

well thanks in advance.

Of course some UBs are better than others. An example of a synergistic approach I took with a UB was as Hannibal. I created almost all coastal cities (fairly easy as I had my own island), build the Cothons, and built the Colossus and Great Lighthouse. So Hannibal being a financial leader is able to exploit that trait on the coastal cities due to the gold bonus from the Colossus, and the Cothon in conjunction with the Great Lighthouse was helping me rake in major cash due to the extra 3 trade routes in my coastal cities! Of course I put off Astronomy and Corporation as long as possible to keep these advantages and apply them to the research of other techs. This is just one example, but I'm sure many more can be found.

...Play Montezuma and whip a lot? That shouldn't be too hard! The French have a nice one too, for alittle extra GPP andit encourages developing border cities as research centres. Also, Shaka as Aggressive/Expansionist/50% Organized is kinda cool. I find many of the buildings allow a Civ to lean a little bit in the direction of an extra trait; like the "creative" aspect of Inca's Terrace, the exapansive aspect of Persia's apothecaries, the philosophical lean of the Roman Forum, and the Charismatic lean of Ottoman aqueduct-things. Those are just from the top of my head. I also think one of the stronger UBs is the Greek one... extra hapiness AND culture is pretty sweet, kind of a lean towards charismatic AND creative.

I think that UBs, like UUs, will be useful from time to time depending on the exact situation, but aren't as amenable to general planning as are traits and perhaps starting techs.

I personally favour the Roman forum. That may be do to my distaste for "GP Farms," but they are still a great asset. Does it seem wrong to anyone that I build all engineer wonders in my main production city and all scientist buildings in my science/Great Library/usually capitol?

Well, kniteowl, this is only a problem if you've been playing Saladin-- the Madrassa changes him from just another religious civ into a real GP monster. Likewise, to a lesser extent, with the Egyptian Obelisk.

Other UBs seem a lot harder to exploit. The Ikhanda is nice, but really, were you going to skip building Barracks anyway, as an Aggressive civ? Likewise with the Roman Forum-- if you've been using the UU correctly, you'll be grasping at anything and everything to fund that huge empire. Haven't played as Monty in Warlords yet, but that does seem like a UB that could be exploited rather well early on.

A bit like the UUs, really; some are so good they determine your strategy from the start, while others are more window dressing. If you don't feel you're using them fully, chances are there's a good reason for that.

A vote for the Zulu UB...it's the only one that meshes with the leader's trait for double build rate (since they took away the half-price banks from financial.) It goes pretty well with expansionist too, as an early amelioration to city upkeep.

I only build barracks in about a third of my original cities and in hardly any cities that I take by conquest. I build Ikhandas everywhere. A great unique building - one of the best.

The Ottoman's UB synergizes very well with their Expansion trait, to allow for larger cities early.

Egypt's UB pretty much drives you to using GP's to pop techs or settle into a cash cow city (preferably with a shrine in it).

That's a few that I can think of off the bat.

I forgot that Obelisks were special! I just played as Ramesses and didn't take any notice of them. Monuments still feel a bit...weird.

Mints are good for MM. The Gold boost with a forge is like Chocolate sauce on ice cream.

The Ger for the Mongols is nice for the mounted warriors.

The Zulu Barracks replacement is nice too.

The Inca Terrace makes me more likely to build a granary too.

I like building statues of myself... when I'm coming up to Calendar I frantically build as many as I can. Not so much for the culture, just so I have more statues.
