UN Discussion Thread

As Foreign Affairs Leader, I feel it is my duty to lead a discussion about becoming the UN Secretary General (i.e. a Diplomatic victory). I realize a diplomatic victory is low on the scale of desired victory conditions for Phoenician citizens, according to the latest poll. Under the leadership of the great Darius, the United Nations was completed in 1615 AD. Therefore, elections for Secretary General will come up every 11 turns.

I recommend that all opportunities to hold a UN election are declined based on two factors:
- It is our 3rd most favoured Victory condition.
- We would need a plan to assure we get votes.

Could those conditions be accepted at some time in the future? Perhaps. If we change our mind, based on some circumstances, and want to try a Diplomatic victory, we would just need a plan. However, without both, I think we should reject.

Thoughts? Opinions? Plans?

Looking at the current state of our relations, we won't stand a chance. Unless more civs become polite with us, we should put off the election.
