Unable to chat in MP lobby + game Diplo chat

It seems I can't send my text over the chat rooms in the game lobby as well as diplomacy screen chat room. It lets me type but when I press enter, nothing happens and the message does not get sent
The friend that I was playing MP game with did not have this issue... I tried hosting, then he tried hosting, both times this issue was present... Otherwise, aside from a few crashes during the diplomacy screens, rest of the game seems fine for me.

Anyone else experiencing this issue?

I'm having the same issue you are. Game works FLAWLESSLY, but nobody wants to play with me because I can't chat. They think I'm some foreigner who can't speak english or some n00b. Well I'm not, I just can't chat!

I enter the text into the field, but no matter how many 100s of times I mash on the enter key, nothing happens. I even looked for a "send" button to no avail...

Same issue here. It would work fine before. From a fresh install + patch, it simply doesn't allow me to chat in the game lobby. Chatting in game works, except for the diplomancy screen, which makes trading rather complicated.

I'm having this issue. 1.61 patch. Did it start in 1.09 patch? Another post says it worked until they installed that patch. I went straight from out of the box to 1.61, and didn't try multiplayer before the patch. I'm wondering if it is INI or Python or binary that is causing the problem...
