Unable to play CIV6 Multiplayer (2K account & Game Center Problem)

Apologies for rehashing a old issue, but would be grateful for assistance in getting Civ6 to work in Multiplayer mode in the Apple Mac OS.

Downloaded Civ6 from the App Store, created a 2k account but have been unable to connect the two. As other posts have noted previously, the problem seems to be that Civ6 is showing up in the Apple game centre which probably needs to happen before it can connect to the 2k account.

As long as the 2k icon remains greyed out and offline, then multiplayer games are impossible.

Any suggestions/ fixes?

P.S. FWIW, I have managed to connect the iOS version of Civ6 to my Game Center and 2k accounts. There was a fiddly fix in one of the civ6 subreddits. But I haven't found anything similar for the Mac OS.

I am having the same issue. I bought Civ6 when it came out… and for reasons that don't matter was still on Civ3. But, I want to get with the program and like the idea of being able to play on my iPad Pro or MacBook. I have connected the iPad, and can save to the 2k cloud. But the icon is grayed out on my Mac. I did check Game Center: looks OK. I saw something about VPNs: I have one but am not running it, and restarted as a just-in-case. No firewall. I also saw there was an issue (years ago?) with 2K and the Mac, but this support page looks current.

Sorry if this has been well-covered but I have searched, including in this thread.

Thanks for suggesting the VPN solution, although I don't routinely use a VPN. At the moment, I'm getting an 'invalid URL' message when I attempt to login to my 2k account. So dunno what's going on there.

When I load the iOS version of Civ6 on my iPad, I can see my Mac Games Center ID at the top of the screen and red 2k icon indicates that Civ6 is connected to the 2k account. Civ6 for iOS also turns up on the Games 'Recently Played' list. None of these things happen with the Mac OS version of Civ6. So I'm guessing that the Mac OS somehow can't recognise or connect to Civ6, even though I bought it via the App Store.

There was a 'one weird trick' solution to connecting the iOS version of Civ6 to the iOS (and 2k) posted in Reddit a couple of years ago.

It worked for me, but I haven't had any luck in finding an equivalent for the Mac OS.
