Undocumented change? Post-patch research agreements giving a reduced payout

Is it just me, or do research agreements give weaker payouts now? Pre-patch, I found that research agreements tended to give me the most expensive techs I could get. Now, I've had them giving me things like Writing, and even techs I was already working on.

Anyone else had this occur?

It gave me cheaper techs previously. You were just lucky before.

It definitely still gives good payouts... I just got a Renaissance level tech while needing classical level tech.

Other undocumented.
1. Map reveal with satalites (gee, that's better!)
2. Great engineer production rush limited now

Any more?

The GE had some limits before, like it couldn't finish the Cristo Redemptor in one move, but smaller wonders it could. Has this been tightened even more?

Hmmm, in that case maybe not. Now that you mention it, maybe I'd only used them on earlier wonders before... I can't remember I'm afraid. I know the GE I used last night left me with 4 turns still on the Statue of Liberty.

I used a GE on SoL in my first game on launch day and it didn't finish the wonder, so this is definitely not new. As for RAs, I agree with Louis XXIV, you were lucky before. For a while I thought it was psuedorandom, and weighted towards giving you cheaper techs, but I'm increasing convinced that it's just random (well, as random as a computer can be).

Glad to hear about Satellites. Minor change, but something that I thought was a nice touch.

Yeah, I had the satellite reveal spring on me last night. That was great because I was real busy fighting and hadn't built any ships to explore. Nice to see the whole map at the end of the game.

Also, you get those last few natural wonders revealed for a few points of happiness!

It was definitely random before. I haven't had any research agreements since the patch, but I'm guessing they're the same, just now there's no chance of a glitch robbing you of the gold without giving the tech.

Engineers are more effective in larger cities. It's an extra 30 or 50 production per city size. Engineers can (mostly) build the end game wonders in big end game cities.

Another minor change is that the bonus against barbarians now scales more with difficulty level, going down to 0 on deity (before it was +33% from emperor to deity iirc)

Indeed. Barbs are actually a huge pain early on now. You almost need to have 2 warriors to clear out a camp.

Sounds like the OP:
1) Had worse luck recently than a bit farther back
2) Has selective memory (which isn't uncommon unfortunately)

3) Low sample size, the number of games I've played total can be counted on one hand. I know a whole bunch of other undocumented stuff went through, so a meta-analysis is always useful.
