Unexpected attitude hit... Update: with save file

On a related note, I looked over the save with CRpViewer, none of the other civs' map views suggest they might have met Sumeria.

for what it's worth, I can abandon any city filled with celts and sumeria doesn't care.

abandon a roman or an arabian city (which are relatively nearby) and they are unhappy.

i wonder... did carthage have mapmaking when they bit the dust? Is it at all possible that they met the sumerians - the AI could have sent a galley across to the sumerians, and maybe once that contact is made, the citizens still send news of bad deeds around until they are completely subsumed?

hmm.. you get an attitude hit for disbanding slaves (killing them) - maybe you get a hit for abandoning a city with foreign workers, because they are all dead. Anyone know?

Here are some scenarios that I played out:

a) Raze Cumae--Sumerians are cautious
Abandon Aden (100% Arabic)--they're annoyed
Abandon Ancyra (100% Byzantine)--they're furious

b)Abandon Aden and Ancyra--cautious
Raze Cumae--cautious
Abandon Novgorod (100% Russian)--Annoyed
Abandon Carthago Novo (100% Carthaginian)--Furious

c)Give Sumerians contact with Alex & Gandhi
Raze Cumae--Everyone's polite
Abandon two 100% foreign cities--Sumerians Furious, others polite.

d)Capture Cumae--cautious
Abandon it--annoyed

I have noticed that the abandoned towns must be 100% foreign to upset Gilgamesh. He is not bothered if you abandon the larger Celtic towns with a majority of Celtic citizens, but if you abandon Eboracum (pop 1 [Celtic]), it does upset him.

I also tried abandoning all my slaves and foreign settlers (after razing Cumae) and he was still cautious.

And I tried giving contacts with the Romans to all parties, razed Cumae and then abandoned some towns. Only Gilgamesh became furious.

well, that may be because you are in sumeria's shunned government, so their attitude will be worse than the others.

but the big drop is kind of mysterious, anyway...
