unhappines on emperor level

Hi,
I have Civ Windows version and I started playing on highest (emperor) level. The thing I have problem with is happiness. In manual it is said that on this level, two citezens are content. And everything is going fine until some moment when almost all of my cities have only one content citizen and the rest unhappy (without any positive factors temples etc.). Why is it so? Plaese help, I hope the question is clear.

And one more, is there a difference between win version and DOS v5 Civilization?

I know in Civ 2, it is called the 'riot factor'. As your empire gows, the number of content people in each city lowers. The mention in the manual would just be the 'base' level the cities start at.

From what I remember of Civ 1, that is also the case.

I mean if you have city size3, two unhappy and one content or size2 one unhappy one content. Is this the riot factor?

Your cities would start out having two content citizens per city. As you added more cities, it would slowly reduce to one content per city. Not all cities drop at once, but do so gradually, over time, as you grow.

It could get to the point where even when you build a new city it can start as an unhappy person.
