As opposed to unique abilities (like seasnake has in his G&G mod), which are something more similar to traits (they actually are traits), that should influence the entire civilization gameplay style.
I noticed that, too. Yes, "they actually are traits" in the leaderhead-xml, and that's exactly the reason, why in G&G you get to choose only one leader per nation just to give it a Civ V coating


Obsolete yes or no: pro, because Asafs classes model looks tidy and neat and structured (and Asaf is going to have a ball doing it in C++) but doesn't improve gameplay and realism as thoroughly as the obsolescence model. Look at it as a different way to show the fluctuation of civs in time, their ups and downs, in comparison to the theatrical style of Rhye's And Fall. In RFC civilizations come and go for no reason, like on stage. That was definitely an interesting gaming experience but much like taking a walk through a historical theme park. In a real game, the actual rise and fall should be achieved by game structures, preferredly. And obsoleting Unique Civics are likely to be doing that. I hope
