Uninstall/Reinstall problems

OK, I am a fool. Didnt realise my new Civ3 Gold had the latest PTW patch and think I might of put an old one over the top. Suddenly I dont recognise the disk as being in the drive.

Surely a simple reinstall will help I hear you say. Seems not. No result.

Sledge hammer appraoch time. Uninstall and install again. But what is this? The install wizard wont uninstall it. Fine. Manually delete files and any reference in the registry. But again i am thwarted. Something must still be there as when I put the disk in my only options are Play (but wont recognsie there is a disk there) or modify/uninstall (neither of which work). It WONT let me install.

Any ideas??

Welcome to CFC.

To fix the problem, the uninstall / reinstall is definitely the best way to go - its the patches that tend to cause the "please insert disk" - and I noticed that installing the UK patch where I needed the US version for PTW resulted in this as well, BTW.

Beautiful work. A little more investigation into the registry found the extra things to delete and I think I am on the way again. Thanks.
