Helllllloooo Everyone,

This Guide is stuff I've Gathered over the past hour, and stuff. I'll Teach you how to unistall Civ4. If you have been trying to get it off then you'd probally get crap load of errors, Damn Computers! :scan:

This is just to get off , there is a few more steps if you want no trace, but those are minor.

Step 1.
(Note:This Step is for people who haven't tried to use add/remove programs in Control Pannel)
Try going to add/remove programs, and remove Civ4, If you don't get a error , and it uninstalls then Lucky you;) ! If you get it click ok!

Step 2.
Now we gotta go this like men (and women ;) ) and delete it old school style! Just delete the Civ Folder for now.

Good Job Step 2 done!:goodjob:

3. Do this:

Go to your Program files folder. IN there, there should be a folder called 'Installshield installation information' (If there isn't, then in the explorer 'tools' menu, choose 'folder options', then on the 'view' tab, check the option for 'show hidden files and folders'.

Open the 'Installshield installation information' folder. In there, you should see a whole lot of folders with weird names, like '{0AD84416-63A4-4CF3-BDDF-8FA866711FB0}'

One of those is for Civ4. Open each one in turn, and if it has a file in it called 'setup.ini', then double-click on that, and look for something that suggests that the folder is for Civ4 (eg. something similar to 'AppName=Civilization 4')

If you find a folder like that, then delete it. If installshield finds that folder, it thinks its installed already. You should then be able to reinstall.

navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software. If this is the only game you have from Firaxis delete the key called "Firaxis Games" otherwise delete any sub keys of Firaxis Games" starting with "Sid Meier's Civilization 4".

ALSO!!!!!

Read All the posts, so you know what your adventuring into, and other problems that can occure.

I found the file, Try:

C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{CFBCE791-2D53-4FCE-B3FB-D6E01F4112E8}

Thanks a Million!

Check All hardrives, i found them in both. but if you have one drive then don't worry about.

I tried your advice, and instead of what I expected, instead of the error I usually got when uninstalling, I received no reply from the "Add or Remove Programs" window. It flickers once then comes back on, have any advice?

One other note, other programs uninstall fine, and I closed and re-opened the window several times. Plz reply soon, because we need to re-install it for it to work.

hmm, i have not seen that, if you have looked at other guides, you may of been asked to delete or rename your install sheild folder. Don't do that, it messes things up.

Any way, just read the rest and do that and you'll be ok.

Yes, some do unistall fine, its just with Civ, (although i speak for myself) and retrying dosen't seem to help. so simply follow the rest,

IMPORTANT:
The frist step is just to make sure you haven't tried to do that already. If you have tried it, then ignore it.

Actually, before I saw your help, I cleared up the situation, it came back (something with updating causes this), and now I tried my old technique, which did nto work out. It does not show on remove programs, but in add programs it says it is installed. (I am very confident I deleted all the civ 4 files, I should have checked for replies sooner.)

Ugh, I just tried the advice at the top, and now the add or remove programs window wont open, it will just flicker
