Unit Auto-selection ignores player selection

Please, for the love of god fix the auto-unit selection since it is currently unable to be disabled.

As a suggestion PLEASE have the game not auto-select a unit if the human player has already selected another unit in need of commands. I can select and command an army faster than the game will auto-select units, the auto-selection wastes time by randomly moving the screen to the four corners of the map constantly when most of my units are concentrated in an army.

It is completely broken when managing an army. I command one unit and then select another, but before I can give commands to this second unit Civ VI will autoselect a random unit randomly on the map. Half the time I end up giving commands to the auto-selected unit instead of the one I had JUST selected. It is supremely frustrating to have no rhyme or reason to the auto-unit selection and have units wasting turns or dying due to movement commands that were never intended for them.

I agree, a player selected unit should remain selected until the player either completes it's actions or presses skip unit.

Another option I'd like to see is that unit cycling goes to the next CLOSEST unit. So that in battle you stay in the battle zone, this would also cut down on the accidental long distance movements.

That's a great idea. Disabling auto-selection when an active unit has already been selected and having auto-select decide by proximity to the last unit commanded can both coexist together. Combined that's the most logical process I can think of. And for people that just hate auto-selection in general an option to disable it should at least exist.

Already lost a crossbow corps because it was obeying a move command intended for some other unit. Units that are fortified do not "wake" when an enemy is in attack range either... I thought there was supposed to be a difference between fortification and sleep. :undecide:
