[GS] Unit Equipment

I want to make a mod that removes the classes for combat units (Melee, anti-mounted, light and heavy cav) and combine them into one class called "soldier" or something. Than you can build equipment that you can put on your units. E.g different kinds of weapons, shields, wheter or not on a horse. These different equipments would be good at different things. The same goes for ranged and bombard classes but I would like them to be the same

I could not find a mod that made anything similar but if you do please link it.

I am not very good at modding, but if someone wants to make this into a mod or have any idea on how it could be done it would be much appreaciated.
