Anyone else notice the huge disparity here:

WHen you have railroads your units can move halfway around the world in a single turn. The same is NOT true for ships... even the most advanced ships move barely further per turn than their earlier era counterparts... Nor does Advanced Flight increase the range and/or speed of air units.

I don't see what you're complaining about in regard to air units - since rebase has infinite range they can shift between various theatres of war almost as quickly as land units, with the added advantage thay they can do this between different continents.

As for the slow ships, well, all ships move absurdly slowly. A Caravel requiring decades to cross an ocean the size of the Atlantic? However, if one increases the movement allowance of ships, you get absurd situations in which Battleships sail across the sea, bombard enemy cities or units, and returns to the safety of a friendly part in the same turn without any possibility of retaliation against the ship. One possible solution would be to have a SMACesque system in which ships are forced to end their movement after attacking/bombarding.

i agree about the whole movement of ships thing but if you look down this forum you will see that there have been loads of discussions of this exact thing and come up with pretty much the same answer as The Last Conformist
