Unit Preview : Israeli MERKAVA 4 tank

Okay, the size is perfect, but now I think the tank is off-angle from the other tanks.

I'm only mentioning this because it looks so good, I hate to see little imperfections go unnoticed. I don't know how this program you use works, but can the perspectives be changed?

It would probably also help make the inclined turret less noticable, too.

Cool tank none-the-less!

Look, it's breathing !

I'm ashamed, but... you're right ! I'm gonna fix that up.

But I'm more figuring how t do the all animation path more than really making the final FLC's.
When I get the good way, I will do it more realitic.

Yup, it should just vibrate a bit -if at all- I was amazed with the new French wheeled tanks- U dont hear them (and they don't vibrate;))

I think the next evolution in tank will be the conversion of the track weel system to the tire wheel system (I hope they wont be tires though...something a bit more protective)

There already exist a variety of tyres that are quite robust:

There are the tyres completely made of rubber, with metal grid-meshes incorporated into the structure. There are also those that have an internal foam texture. I believe that as soon as suitable alloys are developed, tyres will see wider use in modern rapid response armies.

Change your ambient light to dark gray, (right click on render button), or else in game your tank will look "cartoony".

way cool Boulboulgadol, nice nick too.

This will look incredible when you get the suspension fixed. :)

I think what Neomega said about the lighting will make a difference too. I couldn't put my finger on it before, but it does look a little bright, kinda like its parked under 5000watt lights. Dang desert sun....

:goodjob:

can't wait to see the final product!

Thanks you all for advices.

I've completed the Default and Run animations.

I think I just went too far in my work to make it all over again in order to change a light or a shadow. My feeling is the tank is not so bad this way and well playable. So Im going on this way.

I know my FIRST unit can't be that perfect. I just tryed to make it the best I could, learning the more lessons possible for my futur units (yes, there will be some ! ). Next time, I will have the perfect lights, shadows and view angles. But this time it's just gonna be almost. Anyway, while playing, you won't notice those things. That's just because you're looking at it looped, which make easy to see imperfections. I even saw some in the original modern armor (when analysing it)

Again, thank you all for your advices. If they're not all usefull this time, be sure they will be the next time.

In the news :

I've done the Default, Run and Attack animations. I'm just such a shmoke in explosions, so I shamefully stole the modern armor one and pasted it on my attak animation. Forgive me that, but if want this over soon, I have to save some time somewhere !
It looks pretty good, think. I don't have time to make a demo. I prefer to start the next FLC quickly.

I have to make Death FLC, and maybe a Fortify and Fidget.
It can be done in several days if I get enough time.

Keep waiting ! I'm still on it ! :)

I just came to this preview forum for the first time to have a short look at the haps and then !!!

This unit incredible! Oh man! Pleeeeeeeaze, pretty please with sugar and strawberries on it, finish this beautiful tank ASAP I want it so bad for Israel. All Sharon has is the american M1A1 and he's not happy without his babe.

I'm sure the modern armour explosion will be fine. I agree with the others that too much vibration or rolling is not good. In fact, I would be perfectly happy with a still default for a super heavy tank like this.

I'm wondering why you choose the color you did. It seems a bit light for desert camo? Here's a real shot with a darker desert camo color that you might be interested in. Also (its a bit late now but just for interest) the body of the tank and the turret are slightly shorter on the Mk.4 version than the Mk.3 This one looks more spunky. I think your merkava would be better off named the Merkava Mk.3 rather than the 4.
