Unit promotion halted

Hello everyone,

Glad to join the forums! Alas, my first post is asking for help. After playing a bit my units suddenly do not gain any experience above 30. New games behave in the same way.

I had only one modpack activated and I am not even sure weather the problem occurred before or after I played with it. I am sure at the begining it was not like this. Anyway, with and without mod the effect is nil. Reinstalling the game did not help, although I am not sure of the meaning of "reinstall", considering Steam, since all games and the modpack appeared after the fresh install. The units still do not gain experience. The mod pack was Thalassicus Balance and I looked at the feedback page, but no one had reported such problem.

Any hint would be greatly appreciated. It is very frustrating to be stuck like this with fresh and interesting game.

Welcome to CFC .

Please check against whom you're fighting.
There's a cap for XP against barbarians, it's at 10, so if an unit has already more XP it will not gain any more XP with fighting them.

That's it! I was not aware of this cap.

I am glad it was just a matter of ignorance on my part, so I can go and play now.

Correct, there is a cap against barbarians.

I think you can only promote them twice when facing barbarians, so people dont farm them for EXP.

I think that this should be relative to how challanging the barbarian unit is to the unit it is fighting. Hopfully this will be modded out.

So if you have Warriors and you have your 30 xp against Barbs. And you defeat a Barb Musketeer then you should still get XP.
