We have got plenty of Roman units already: There are three Legions, plus a centurion and a basic legion Swordman, a standart bearer, auxilia cavalry, even Roman galleys and a siege machine- How about some alternatives ;) ?

This Request is targeted at Muffins..

The Leptis Magna Munition Works (LMMW) 21 'Sand Rat' Battle Tank
The Sand Rat Program Began in 1935 to Produce a Main Battle Tank that was geared for a Desert Enviroment But could be operated in other Climes. The Sand Rat is Unique becase it has a very low profile;all MAchinery is stored in the long thin turret. The Sand Rat aslo has removeable Armor plating over the treads that not only protected them from enemy fire but from sand as well.
The Sand Rat servbed faithfully with the Carthaginain Army untill 1952, when it was repaced by the LMMW-27.

Um.. here is my... Techincal Sketch of the Sand Rat. Don't make fun of it!

Woohoo! These requests are awesome. I have been requesting Carthaginean units forever. Out of every civilization out there, the only one which doesn't have any unique units attributed to it is the Carthage civ.

Hmm, how about a Carthaginean WWI Infantry much like Kinboat's Roman WWI Infantry. I wonder what one would look like, somebody should do a sketch.

I like your idea Goldflash, at first I thought it was real until I read "The Sand Rat servbed faithfully with the Carthaginain Army untill 1952, when it was repaced by the LMMW-27."

So you like it! YAY! BTW, this wasn't done in MS Paint. It was Done in the GIM, which is MS paint on Steroids :D

BTW, just incase anyone is wodnering, that thingy comign off the back isn't a gun.. its the exhaust pipe from the engine.

I concurr!!

That isn't a Machine Gune, it is an Exhaust pipe. In fact, I said that just two posts above yours.

And It is a World war Two Era Tank with a unique design

Yes, I guess I should read the posts before asking details about them :p (one questin tho- how come the engine comes in the turret- this makes a tank highly vulnerable - especially by hits from the sides and back- and the drivers'd be deaf too) anyways...

I never saud the Cartheginianians were good at Designing tanks.

Actually, the Engine is stored in a sound proof, heavily armored box at the rear of the turret. Also, its small size and light weight made it agile.. it was more ment to avoid hits than take them.

BTW, what game are thoes pics from?

If the tanks and such can get done, a modern Punic War, would be cool.
Has anyone even made a nice Cartheginian gally or any other ship?

Did the Carthaginian elephants have cataphract like that?? Might make a good Knight replacement for them....

Not to my Knoweldge, but possibly. I thought I remembered reading that they didn't even have towers, because the African Forest Elephant was too small. I think any Elephant unit would work well as a Carthaginian Knight, but a small Elephant with a single rider would work the best.

Winter, I've been trying to get Carthaginian units piecemeal forever. I'm still hoping someone takes my request for a Numidian Cavalry (which was the elite Light Horse for Hannibal). The Numidian Mercenary makes the perfect Libyan Spearman (check its art files, its name was only changed cuz "Libyan Mercenary" sounds like a terrorist group).

The next units haven't been requested before (to my knowledge). The first picture looks a lot like the Carthaginian Sacred Band (the guy on the left is holding their standard, iirc). The Sacred Band no longer existed by the Punic Wars, but fought well in the wars against Syracuse (note: The Carthaginian Sacred Band, mounted or on foot, should not be confused with the Theban Sacred Band). This unit would make a great army unit to compete against the Roman version, or possibly a Heavy Cavalry (although the next picture fits much better for this role).

The last flavour unit of the ancient age for Carthage would be the balearic slingers. They were the elite skirmishing unit of the ancient age. There name pretty much explains about them. They were from the Balearic isles, and they used a sling to hurl clay "stones" at you.

If you want a RTW pic, gimmie a moment to put one up ;)

BTW, although flavor units are cool, I've been thinking on the practical side, for scenarios. That's where most of my ideas come in. I haven't even considered a Carthaginian Pike, Longbow, MDI, Musketman, or later. But, considering their use of Mercenaries, it might make sense to have some kind of African Guerrilla fighter for a Guerrilla.

On the right you have a fully grown Carthagian War elephant (African Steppe). To my knowledge the Carthagians used these mostly, along with smaller, non-armored african bush elephants.

On the left you have a medium armored Indian elephant, most probably Perisan.

I'm pretty sure WINTER is correct that the Carthaginians employed Savannah Elephants for the most part, and put towers upon them, with archery and/or pike crews. The smaller Forest Elephant was used by Numidians apparently and was ridden by two or three men directly on its back. I assume the Egyptians used the Savannah Elephant, but I'm not sure.

With Asian Elephants, both howdahs and straddle-mounted men were used, though I'm not sure how the various Persians, Indians, Greeks, Mongols and Arabs differed in how they used the animal.

Rock! Carthage has long been (since my first reading of Allen Ginsberg's 'Howl' ("the spinsters of Utica...") a fascination of mine,...

I'm amazed you were able to find graphics such as the above online, I've had
difficulty finding info on them, tho I've soaked as much up as I could.

I especially dig the the food soldier in your link with the tridant - very cool,
unique as well.

I hope someone picks up the task of adding to my personal 'favorite' civilization.
