No idea what a 'discworld quisitioner' is... maybe a description or picture would help... I am working on several fantasy type units that may come in handy.

hmm what it should be is a mounted version of Bebro's legionaire because that looks more like what i picture as a roman legion

Not quite true I'm afraid.

Roman Horsemen were Auxiliaries.
And ALL Roman auxiliaries carried an oval shield, not the square scutum of the legionaries.

In fact, even the legionaries only used the square scutum between 25 AD to about 200 AD.
Before and after this period they also used the Celtic oval type shield.

"By the time of Imperial Rome in the 1st centaury AD, the Romans themselves realised the need for fast troops that were capable of performing tasks that the slow heavy Legionary was not suited for, so they created the famous Roman Auxiliaries, armed with javelins, swords, helmets and shields, which eventually made up half of all the soldiers in the empire".

Wheel Gator was making a Mounted Legion awhile back. Don't know if he ever finished it.

I would love to see somebody get the pic on the far left done. Thanks for the pics, Kryten.

A few words about cavalry shields. Let's see: 1)Round shield about 200 year BC. Sign of winged horse was used paralelly with signs of eagle, wolf, boar an Minotaur 2) Flat, rounded Celtic shield with cutted top and bottom part, used by Caesar's Germanic and Celtic horsemen, Ist century BC 3) Germanic type shield, end of Ist century AD. "Scorpio" emblem is still visible on the Traian's Column. Maybe it is a sign of "equites singulares" - Germanic horse guards of Roman emperors.4) Typical oval cavalry shield from IInd century AD, dimensions 122x68 cm, emblem on it is also taken from Traian's Column. 5) Shield from unknown cavalry troop about 300 year AD, taken from "Notitia Dignitatum".

YES, I know! I couldn't find it for a long time. I don't know that I could get around to making this unit for some time. I'm working on the Ship of the Line and a "secret" project. :D
