So one WC resolution that I think could use a rethink is the United Nations.

The problem with it is, its not really a WC that gives X bonuses, its basically the "allow DV" resolution, and the AI knows it. Consequently I find I get a near universal disapproval when I try to pass it, case in point.

In this game I am leading the votes by a very solid margin, but I'm not an "overwhelming lead". And that to me is the problem, I feel that this is the hardest part of the DV....its not the super votes at the end, I actually find that easier because my CS allies are giving me a lot of votes at that point, and my vassals have to vote with me.

But it often feels that in order to pass the United Nations I must have more votes than every other civ combined in order to get it through, and then I can "relax" when the super vote comes in, which is an odd way to run the victory condition.

Now I don't mind the resolution in terms of its bonuses, I just think they we should decouple the United Nations from the WC part.

When you hit Atomic Era, the united nations should form (which I think is actually how it works in vanilla if I recall). Your CS votes increase appropriately, and DV becomes an option if you get the World Ideology to pass (that one is also difficult but I find it easier in that I don't have to pass my ideology, just ANY ideology will do.)

Then you just rename the WC resolution to something appropriate, Security Council formation, NATO, I'll let the "naming people" take on that one:)

So that's option 1. Option 2 is more a midground approach. United Nations still exists in its current state, but you automatically get it even if it hasn't passed when Information Era hits (similar to how you get an ideology by modern even if you don't have the policies yet).

What do you people think?

I’m not sure about how to fix the issue but I agree the United Nations resolution is often harder to pass than to win the actual DV vote. The only time I can pass it without having more votes than basically every Civ combined is when there is another big resolution on the table like sanctions or world religion to “distract” civs from voting on it.

Yeah, I once made a topic about the issue, with no replies however.

If we could actually bribe the AI to vote like we could in days past it might be an option to get it passed. For now it's just "impossible"....

I think they always vote for themselves unless being a vassal.

That definitely wasn't always true. I'm not sure about current version.
I lost a game once when a non-vassal Venice decided it had enough of this game and voted to give Austria the win. From a competitive standpoint this is stupid beyond belief. From a roleplaying perspective I guess there's maybe some merit to it.

Security council would be hilarious.

If you get silver (ie. contribute more than your fair share), you could get a permanent seat on the security council. This means you have a veto, so your Nay votes count double for normal resolutions!

:clap:Gridlock the United Nations, just like the real Security Council!

I want this as an option to play with, I want to enable it for roleplaying purposes :)
