Units!

MikeLynch:

Hi

I already have more crusader units done. But I'm on a roll, and the paint brush is a moving. . .

So, I'll have quite a few done before long.

Are there any specific crusader-type units you are looking for? Are there any specialty units you would like have done?

Cheers!

Actually, I've decided to use one of yours, the greyish one where the horse is rearing up, the knight has a lance, and his shield is a red cross. Though I must say, that lance is hard to see up against the grey-stone background of ToT's civilopedia -- maybe some color variations? A wooden lance, perhaps?

I do look forward to seeing the rest of your units, Leo!

I have also found what I think I want to use for my "U.N. Peacekeepers" unit, but I'm not talented enough to add realistic-looking "U.N." lettering on its side -- anyone care to assist?

(P.S.- Call off the hunt for a Samurai unit. I don't need one after all.)

MikeLynch:

Hi

I've included a few units that have a UN shield attached to them. This may be the easiest way to do it for your unit.

I'll have to look into that lance problem.

Ah yes, but in Test of Time, there ARE no shields! There's that weird little circle and health bar instead. :(
I suppose I *could* manually add shields to every...single...unit, but there'd be no point b/c if I lined up the shields with the ToT health bar, half the units would overlap the shields anyway.

LOL

Right :D

I forgot about that.

Let me have a look at it and I'll see what I can do :)

Cheers!

MikeLynch:

We're in luck.

I found these UN units that were done by Case.

Hope this helps :)

Hmmmm... all white... These ARE pretty slick! Thanks Leo!

5 units made by me are also visible (apart from the ship the rest are my work, also the walls) :)

note: the colours are messed up, i had to save with only 256 colours so as to fit the size of the attachment

i am looking forward to your comments :)

varwnos:

It's looking very nice. You are obviously putting a lot of work into it.

Be careful with too much white, though. Maybe put more grey in the city walls.

Thank you for the kind words, btw i guess you arent greek (?) and you probably dont know therefore that there was a battle at Thermopylae in the greek war of independence as well :)

Har har! A problem arises with the UN vehicles that say "UN" on them.

It's only a Test of Time problem. When you move a unit to the left, the program mirrors the unit image. So the text goes from saying "UN" to saying "[backwards-N]U".

Solution? Use the actual UN logo, just a very teensy weensy version so you can't tell that it's backwards.

Observe:

I'm not Greek - Scottish - aye. . .

(I like my oatmeal as thick as a brick) :D

I guess the Greeks and Scots have a lot in common: small, mountainous country; quarralling among ourselves; put upon by outsiders. . .

Hmmm, maybe we could all team up - something like Braveheart's last stand at Thermopylae. . .

I didn't know that about the other battle of Thermopylae. What happened the second time around?

Nice solution.

It's amazing how innovative we can be.

Here are several sets of Crusaders.

I opted for a more classic approach.

Special thanks to Bebro (for the large upright shield).

I still have a few more ideas on other Crusader/Knight units before I move on to other eras.

Here is a new default game Crusader unit.

I wasn't entirely happy with the one I am currently using (it was a mounted Knight, and the lance problem, as pointed out by MikeLynch, was always a problem).

For those of you who can't add new graphics to your game, don't worry. I am currently working on putting together a new default unit game file, and when I'm done, I'll post it here.

The new Crusader unit:

As I don't think I will be making any more scenarios (at least not for a very long time), I decided to compile the units I've made, to allow the easy utilisation of them by other scenario makers.

Just for fun I recoloured some of my high-res units into the infamous nemo-style :)

Wow really good looking units, you guys are great :goodjob: just a small little question about this Denmark/Iceland 1920 scen by EmuGod? What's the storyline about this? Iceland's fight for independence? And how does Germany fits in? Looks interesting, can we have some infos about it?
