Unloadable

I can start as many new games as I wish and save them, but I cannot load at all. Has this been addressed or, if not, does anyone have a solution or some trouble-shooting ideas? Thank you.

What do you mean that you cannot load them? They crash?
Have you been using some mod and then deactivated it?

No mods or anything. I just mean as soon as I click "load," the game freezes until it crashes. It doesn't crash when I try to load a specific saved game; it just crashes when I click on load any saved single player game.

It's not that individual games won't load, it's on the main menu I cannot hit load. I can't load ANY saved games because the "load" on the main menu crashes the game. I'll clarify more if I'm still not making sense.

Hmm, maybe the game does not have access to the saves, thus it crashes when it tries to see the game data?

...mmhh...could you try to start a new game, and then load a save ingame (so not from the main menu)?

Well maybe Windows... if you don't have the permissions for that. (Access those files).

Have you tried loading the save directly from the desktop? (Right click on the save file, select run with and select Civ5.)

Systems specs please, and did you already try to validate the file integrity via steam?

I've validated the file integrity. I've discovered in the last couple days that I can play Civ V in offline mode. I never use Steam Cloud on Civ V, but I'm wondering if I'm having firewall trouble.

MS Windows XP Professional SP3
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+, 2.0GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GT 240

Maybe the Windows Firewalls is blocking the game, check it if it have an exception for Civ5 and Steam, or just disable it for a while to test (But later enable it again).
