You sound like a spoilt child. When you bought the game, thats what you bought. You bought a box, and the contents of the box. Your money doesn't entitle you to anything else. If you didn't research the product carefully and discover that it's not to your taste, then more fool you. You shouldn't have bought it in the first place.
Forgive me if I have been spoiled by better support from other companies. I bought software. You act as if this type of support is the normal. I do focus on companies that do support their games and by doing so I do not have the problems people speak about on bad support of games. I haven't had much problems with this kind of unsupported products. Probably because I quit buying from the companies that practice business like this.
The reviews were all raving about it BTW, too. Looking at reviews would have been even more misleading. The only review I found that addressed the problems the game had upon released said something along the lines of "But I wouldn't worry about it, these issues will most likely be addressed before the game hits the shelves." There was no accurate way to do research. They claim ICS was fixed but that was one of the first things addressed when the SDK was released with the AI city placement that was added in on a patch.
EDIT: I am referring to the AI seing a chunk of ice that your culture has yet to swallow on your continent and then rushing a settler over to it to found a city with only ice and a few coastal tiles in its fat cross. (Which it never get to because normally the city is consumed by your culture.)
And yet again we see Firaxis having its game supported by its fans instead of stepping up to the plate themselves.
They didn't tell you that their game was going to be bug free..... did they?
But we aren't talking about a bug that allows a unit to run across water. We are talking about the game being unplayable to alot of people that use ATI cards. 1 of the 2 top selling video cards. We are talking about a HUGE memory leak that makes the game unplayable past the industrial age. These arent little bugs.
Then a combat system that is unbalanced and not fully thought out from the beginning. These are things that play testing should have caught. Very "in-your-face" issues. The game was not tested decently.
LOL. I swear it isn't hard to see any of this. I don't get how people don't see that this game was just thrown onto the shelves without any regards to its current quality. It was a race to see who could put out a faster game between Civ4 and AOE3 not about who could put out the better game. (Which will in the end lead to more sales. But it doesn't make it on the quarterly report if they hold off.)
They didn't specify on the back of the box how long there would be support (like MMORPG's do).... did they?
Well, no they didn't. But all of those things mentioned plus more were all real issues on its release. Yet, if you went to CivIV.com, they had no section for tech support. So I guess they figured they weren't going to need any. Which could lead one to believe that the game was indeed "perfectly coded" in their eyes.
It's very nice for them to release patches.... but they certainly don't have to.
LOL, yeah ok. I highly doubt they would have any audience if they never released another patch after the first release. There is a difference between being a fan and being naive.
Of course warlords is a funding product. Fireaxis is a company, and making money is what they do. If you don't continue to support the company by buying their products, then why the hell should they continue to give you freebies?
Because I bought their initial product. Maybe I feel Warlords has nothing in it that interests me. Maybe I don't play scenarios and am perfectly content with the current civs. Why should I have to go buy this thing I don't want and don't need to continue to get support on the product I did purchase?
Maybe I have strapped finances in the video game department. And when I was unable to play my version of Civ 4 for 2 months after buying it I didn't want to be shafted again by the same company. Maybe once it came out, and I was able to see it was stuff that I do not care about that 30 bucks was too much to spend on it because it is alot of stuff I don't want and only a couple things I do. (Mostly GGs and patch support)
Face it, they made you have to pay for patches.
