As a desperate attempt to keep this game running, I was attempting the solution suggested by Take2 of downloading and running the PakBuild.Zip file they provided (I have an NVidea card).
After unpacking the program I went to open "Arto.FPK" on my system ,as suggested, but clicking "open" I got the error message that "Windows cannot open this file". It then directed me to select a program to open it or go to a WEB page that would identify extensions and how to open them. The WEB page was confusing. However, it seemed strange to me the directions from Take2 would not included an answer to that error message, unless it didn't expect that message to appear! Anyone else getting that message? Assuming not, anyone got an idea why I am getting it?!? It seems an FPK file is an FPK file, either I should be able to open it or not!
This game is driving me nuts. Yesterday I thought I had a solution as I played for over 12 hours (new games, loading games, saving games) and then late last night after starting a new game my problem of the "frozen/disappeaing cursor" was back (requiring a hot boot to get my system back). Interestingly, once that cursor freezes it is frozen at desktop even if I can get out of the game.
Man, how can this darn thing work so well, and then not work at all? I had not changed anything, I had simply rebooted the game at one point, and what was working now didn't.
