unplayably slow on mac

every time i launch my game, i can only play for a few turns before everything starts freezing up. the graphics and sounds seem to go into slow motion and i can't even move the mouse very fast. before this week, everything was completely fine and i had played around 450 hours with no problems. i have the graphics settings as low as possible, i've switched to only playing on strategy mode, the only mod ive ever had is the aztec package, i've uninstalled and reinstalled, restarted the computer, and nothing has worked. i read through the system requirements, my computer meets all of the requirements (i have 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB memory, intel iris graphics 6100). i haven't been able to find any information about this problem online. i found an old thread from 2017 saying that the high sierra update makes the game unplayable, but i was playing on sierra. i figured the problem might be that since that thread, the game had been updated to only be playable on high sierra, so i updated my computer, and that didn't help. what else can i do? is there any way to contact tech support on the game? do i just have to quit playing?

Honestly, I gave up on the mac version a couple of months back. Already multiple patches behind with no solution on the horizon. And the current mac version is a pale shadow of the game as it is currently on windows. Do yourself a favour and install bootcamp. The game performs 100% times better on BC too. Its a pain, but there is a lot of gain.

I play on a 5 year old Macbook pro. I have no real difference between Bootcamp with win10 and OSX. My Macbook pro is still "faster" than most brand new macbooks and airs.
