Unstable PC

Ok, thanks kcwong, it really helps to know that someone is trying to help you, after I placed ALL my hopes to God!

I'll post it here, after the crush(which will come fairly soon, I guess!)

Well, the System Error I get, is in Category: (102), Event Indentifier: (1003).

Error code 0000000a, parameter1 80ee47f4, parameter 2 00000002, parameter 3 00000000, parameter 4 80515ee8.

The error code 0x0000000A means "The environment is incorrect".

There's a Microsoft Knowledge Base article for it: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=314063

Since your XP is installed correctly before having this error, it means it could be caused by incompatible hardware or software newly installed.

Do you remember doing any hardware or driver upgrade before the crashing started?

Also, in the event log, it mentions the name of the program causing the error in the description box, as well as some other bits of information. Could you post the content?

No, there wasn't any hardware update because the PC was new from the beginning. The crashes started before I had decided to upgrade my drivers, and after the later, it continued like before.

The programs that will cause the instability varry, as it's not always the same program.
Some times the IE will freeze, sometimes the program for the TV on the PC, sometimes something else. All the programs were working fine in the beginning, after I installed them.
This latest fault was by the TV program, but I don't think that it matters, as the programs varry.
Anyway, the programs work fine until the moment that something will go wrong in one of them.

I read about the System Error Category: (102) Event Identifier (1003) in different sites(Microsoft included) and it said that it's not uncommon that this type of error could cause various programs to have instability, and maybe it could be something from the BIOS, etc...

King Alexander, I'm still here, looking at the problem :)

So you're saying your system have crashes right from a start... a defect it is born with?

Reading your first post again, I noticed that you have a Pinnacle PCTV card. I have an old TV card from Pinnacle also... I have problems getting it to run properly (cause system crashes) after I installed Windows XP. So I had to remove the card (no problem... my new video card provides the TV function) and everything works again. Is your TV card an old model? Does it support WinXP (check it's readme file)?

It may be worthwhile to try to remove Pinnacle TV's software and hardware to check... and also you could check the device manager for oddities:

Right-click on My Computer, choose Manage.
Select the Device Manager node.

See if there is any question marks or exclamation marks on the right side.

Next, choose the View menu. The current option should be "Devices by type"... change it to "Resources by Connection". Expand the nodes IO, DMA and IRQ... it will list which device is using which resource. Please post the list (make a screenshot?)

Problematic hardware, you mean?
The crashes some times begin within 2 days after a new XP install, sometimes after 10 days, but they'll begin sooner or later.

My PCTV-Pinnacle was brand new before 6-7 months ago, and, after reading the readme, I found that it supports XP(but it'll support them anyway, since it's not too old).

It's one of the programs that cause my crushes.
Sometimes, it'll refuse to "open" if I "close" and "open" the program some times.

I'll try the weekend, probably :D

The device manager shows that all regarding Pinnacle is OK.

The only one that there is, and I know it, is the HP scanjet, which I haven't installed the driver for the device, because I don't have that driver for XP(bought around ~3 years ago).

I could download the XP driver, but near 70 MB are too much for me to download with a 56K modem and waiting more than 5 hours, since that time is enough for a crush, and I can't ever make it to download the driver :crazyeye:

Changed the settings, as you described.

I can't upload the screenshot(I never succeded, I don't know why - I know how to do it, but the upload stalls near the end and remains there, no matter how time I'll wait).

I also can't find a way to "save" it as a list, as I could do with Event Show(application, Security, System). Sorry!
