I usually play my games until it finishes, and then keep playing until it's no longer intersiting, (pollution is no worry after the game ends time for my ICBM work out), one game (in civ2 ToT) lasted until the year 5000 somthing, before i quit, it's just too hard to stop a game you've been working on for a whole week, just because you won/lost.

I play until I reach my goals. Sometimes, it is completing a wonder, or not completing it in time. Sometimes, winning a war, or losing one. Sometimes, making the peace, sometimes being betrayed. Whenever the story comes to an end.

I stop playing as soon as it is obvious that I will win. This usually occurs at the end of the industrial age, when my military is large and advanced enough that I do not really have to worry about invasion, and when my science rate is better than any other civ. For this reason, I generally go for a diplomatic victory the turn the UN is built by me.

I was tempted to say "whatever year Sid Meier and his team come up with Civ4".

But seriously, I will often abandon a game if I'm hopelessly losing, or if victory is assured but it will take a lot of long, boring turns to get there. Netiher one of those is any fun, so why bother?

I almost never keep playing a game after I've reached the victory conditions. The only real reason to do that would be to play with late-game things like nukes with no penalty. (I do remember one game of Alpha Centauri in which I won the game by Transcendence and had a HUGE industrial base. So I built a bunch of Quantum Planet Busters and turned them loose on the surviving factions, just to see what would happen. Sometimes it's just fun to be evil.)

i voted :just a few turns fafter you win or lose

but i wanted to vote: until i win or lose

I like to see my final score;)

I will play until I win, but I don't generally keep playing if I know I am going to lose.

The only time I have played past winning was to launch a nuclear war just to see what would happen. I must say it relieved some frustrations:D

hmmm, the option that fits me isn`t there..... I play way beyond the point where a military vic is ascertained. But what about diplomatic vic??? I hardly ever wait for that to come around, since I either will get it, or I will avoid loosing that way - thus going for spaceship, which I will get.... tedious...

I've never lost a game of civ. So I play until I win :)
I lose most of my games. Sometimes, I even quit after a few turns when I find out I'm in the midst of the tundra.

Stats:

3 wins
45 tko's
2337 survivals
15219 losses (including restarts, of course)

(I'm making these numbers up. :) )

The losses can sometimes be the most fun.

I don't extend my victories. If I lead the demographics one turn before I complete the Hoover Dam I quit the next turn(looking at the Dam).

I'm missing some options like e.g. reaching a goal or being bored.
